https://padlet.com/DrOwenRoberts/About The recipient of a PhD in educational statistics, research, and evaluation, Dr. Owen Roberts leverages over 40 years of teaching and administrative leadership in his role as superintendent of Alachua County Public Schools in Florida. Certified by the Florida Association of District School Superintendents, Dr. Owen Roberts is responsible for executing an innovative and transformative vision to create opportunities for all students to succeed in life. His work involved creating and maintaining organizational structures, processes, protocols, and partnerships that will produce quality educational and social outcomes for children, families, and the community. By implementing educational policies and overseeing curriculum development and implementation, instruction, school accountability, and school and district operations among the 34 schools, while managing a system budget of over $335 million, he was successful in creating an environment to move all schools to educational centers of excellence. Prior to his current position, Dr. Roberts served as assistant and associate superintendent with St. Lucie County Public Schools in Florida for over eight years. During that time, he established a monitoring system to assist curriculum and instructional delivery, helped close the achievement gap in reading for minority students by seven percent, and raised the district's profile from a low-C to a high-B rating. Dr. Owen Roberts, PhD, earned a bachelor of science in biochemistry and religion from Jamaica's Northern Caribbean University, formerly West Indies College, and spent the early part of his career teaching mathematics, physics, and chemistry among other subjects, at high schools and colleges on the island. He has also taught in Bermuda, where he headed a computer science department and served as chairman of a science curriculum committee for the Ministry of Education.
