We allow students who have reached their minutes and lessons on Fridays for morning work to have other options such as Epic or prodigy as a reward.

We use an index card where we write students names down based off their exit ticket who needs help and pass it to the next teacher so they can pull a small group. The exit ticket questions are either the check understanding for math or the anchor chart questions for reading. It is real time feedback that the next teacher uses to pull remediation groups.

It’s not on the iready resources, but I would like to give students Westie bucks for completing iready lessons. For every lesson they complete they would get 2 westie bucks.

I try to rotate to each table group and try to catch any misconceptions when I see that students are not understanding. If they are still not understanding, we do extra practice. I also gauge their understanding based on the “check understanding.”

For math, I will assess the students by having them do a math problem on the SmartBoard. For ELA, they will draw a picture to depict something they learned during the lesson.

Connect: The article states that different learning tasks need to be measured in different ways. I already know that I need to assess students in math differently than than I do for ELA. And each student needs to be assessed differently because they each learn in different ways.

Extend: I really like the idea of interview assessments. I believe this would a very accurate way to learn what each student actually knows/comprehends.

Challenge: For me personally, the biggest challenge is having the actual TIME to individually assess each student and document it on paper.

In Science the students get a warm-up everyday where I ask questions about concepts that we previously learned. This week we will be using an exit ticket.
