The movie "Selma" has had a massive impact on how we can use films to showcase historical events, within the movie we are shown the persistence of colored people during the Civil Rights Era. Selma created a way for us to use movies to demonstrate different perspectives throughout history. We learned about historical figures and their position on the march of Selma which was to be organized by Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. Through the movie we can observe the thoughts and actions taken by Lyndon B. Johnson(The President of the United States), the African-American people, white people, and Martin Luther King Jr.

Lyndon B. Johnson: Bring To Light The Truth

Within this clip, we are shown a scene that depicts a meeting held between two legendary Civil Rights Activists, Martin Luther King Jr. and Lyndon B. Johnson. It was taught that Lyndon B. Johnson was a Civil Rights hero who was very dedicated to the fight for equal treatment of African Americans in the US, however, this scene shows it differently. We can see that thanks to this film, we are being shown a different side of Lyndon B. Johnson, he is instead a man who seemed to care very little for the rights of Black Americans. He goes as far as to say "put it to the side" when referring to the pressing issues that African Americans face on a daily basis.

The clips show the opinion of the white populous during the event of Selma. The movie shows that there were still white people during this time who supported the cause of Martin Luther King Jr. It is a whole new perspective that is not spoken about enough today, many whites (especially clergy) showed up in support of king.
