Being old and looking young will be great as I age, but at this point in my life it is very frustrating. I work with children and parents always get a worried look when they realize that I am their teacher, and that I am responsible for their kids throughout the day. I have an Associate's degree in Education and I am beyond qualified to work with their children. This picture shows me in a fishing tournament over the summer. When we went to the weigh in, all of the men there were shocked that I could catch a fish that big. Some of their comments were,  "Did you really catch that all by yourself? I can't believe SHE caught that." Most of the time when I fish tournaments I am the only girl there, which makes me the target of attention, and not necessarily the good kind. I experienced sexism here because people didn't think I was qualified for my job because I was a female. One experience that really made me realize how sexism could affect was when I was 16. I answered the phone and answered a simple question. The man on the phone specifically asked me to speak with male employee, "because he would be much more qualified than you." I am a fifth generation graduate from Mechanicsburg and have spent my entire life living in the same old house. My grandmother owns a small model train shop where I  practically grew up working. Both of my grandmothers who are pictured are widows after 50+ years of marriage, and they are the strongest, most loving people I have ever met. My grandmother still owns a business and works full time at the age of 78. My mother is a great role model, and taught me that I don't need other people to make me happy. My older sister taught me to stand up for myself, and to be the best I can be.
