This award-winning masterpiece had an excellent realistic fiction story line. The question of: "What were to happen to me..?" appeared in my head, and that is what I personally find in a good book. I believe this is a classic everyone should read, disregarding age.

You can see how people fought to experience what they want to experience, be who they want to be with, and go where they want to go. If looking for an exciting historical adventure, this is the book you want.

This was a truly needed and touching book telling the bitter truth of love in sickness and in health. As our protagonist, Hazel, fights what she believes is the hardest battle of her life (on a scale of 1-10 in pain, a 9), a boy named Gus gives and takes from her pain and joy what she can only describe as an 10. A touching and deep book I would highly recommend.

Following the events of a car crash, our protagonist, Mia, is left in critical condition with no one to turn to. In this book, she lives while she dies. We look from her memories and ghost's perspective she has to decide that, even though her life will never be the same, does she want to continue living?

Following the character Miles Halter as he transfers schools, we receive a realistic story line that is relatable as readers and enjoyers of the teen genre. Very enjoyable, it reveals what high school could and might sometimes be like. Grasping diverse topics, the author gives detail and reasoning to them.

Samurai Rising was an excellent biography opening my eyes to the love of biographies that I have today. However, as I read my book, confusion clouds my head as to who the characters are. This is a result of the biography aspect of the piece. Set in feudal Japan, many names are similar, often long and only off by one or two characters. Aside from this, the author has done a very good job in providing guiding questions to each chapter, each supporting deep empathy to the valiant figures mentioned. I am very involved in the topic of feudal Japan, Minamoto Yoshitsune to be specific. Though this was very educational, in enjoyed nonetheless.

This book has deepened my interest in historical biographies. Recently, I have become more acquainted with the "Historical Fiction" genre. Picking up this book, I felt that the subject would intrigue me but not so much the biography portion. However, I was corrected when I realized that while I enjoyed reading the book as well, I could gain more information than if I were to indulge in a fiction.
