CELEBRATING THE FIRST SEMESTER!
Despite Spilt milk, Splattered applesauce, Sprinkles of corn and Smashed tater tots ON MY NEW CARPET, we have Successfully made eating lunch in the classroom with a room full of kindergarten babies a SUCCESS!
As a matter of fact, I WOULD KEEP this new response to social distancing FOREVER. ( As long as Jeannie agrees to keep cleaning my carpet - LOL) WHY you may ask? Lunch is a sweet time to relax, talk to my kids and simply enjoy their company. We also use the time to jump start lessons that follow whether it be a Mr. Rusty story ( for those of you that have not had the pleasure of hearing these, you don't know what you are missing), a mystery Doug video or simply sharing items or info that ignites their hearts and prepares them for the next lesson. In other words, we use this extra time with our kids to keep learning. And I think we can all agree that the time we have with them is valued MORE than EVER.
Many years ago my daddy etched this saying on my heart "The times that know you know will soon know you no more." Who knew that in 2020 I might not have the pleasure of pulling teeth, catching throw up or wiping dirty noses. Who knew that a day would come so quickly that I would miss nubby fingers stabbing me on the shoulder, squeeky voices relentless calling my name or tying wet shoestrings on feet that are never still? But most of all, who knew that I would not see those eyes light up when the "light bulb" came on, or hear "you're the best" when I feel the worse, or feel that sweet little hand slip into mine when we walk down the hall. God has been good to me. Thank you Lord for this time together with sweet babies, amazing co-workers and precious parents. Happy Thanksgiving McGarity! Know you are LOVED!
