Human beings have shown loyal tendencies in the past for survival.
Is it something that it now less important in the 2000’s? Why or why not?

No, I personally don't think that loyal tendencies is used as a strategic way to stay alive, now a days. Loyalty is more like a good trait to have, as a friend, co-worker, worker, and family member. That being said in some people's living situations loyalty would be a good way to survive, and not get on anyone's bad side.

Is loyalty more important to you than “popularity” or “fitting in”? Why or why not?

For me loyalty and popularity are two very separate things that can collide and become an issue in some cases. People have priorities, and my priority is not to become popular. On the other hand some people aspire to become popular, and in some cases their want of being popular can clash with their loyalty to their peers and or friends, since they want to become popular badly enough.
Fitting in and popularity are used in the same terms, a lot of the time, but for me personally, I see them as two different things. For example popularity can be used for good or bad, the people who are "popular" sometimes aren't really popular for the best reasons. Fitting in is more just being apart of a group and belonging somewhere which is a priority to some, and in my age range, a priority to most.
To answer the question, loyalty is more important to me than being/becoming popular. Since I wouldn't want my friends running off ditching me to become popular, and I wouldn't do that to them. Loyalty being used in both directions of the friendship.

The three images I chose are pictures that represent the greasers. The first being a picture of someone with an empty wallet because in the book, the author makes it pretty clear they have to work really hard for a low income to keep the gang on their feet, and able to live without ending up on the streets.
The second image I chose was a cigarette, back then when the book was based, smoking was a common thing. More people back then smoked then they do today, but why I chose the image is because they all started smoking at younger ages; for example Johnny started smoking at the young age of nine, and steve at 11, and so on. That's why when I was thinking about what could represent the greasers cigarettes popped into my mind.
And lastly a switchblade, I thought a switchblade represents the greasers quite well because they're targeted by the socs, and need some sort of way to defend themselves. The socs don't really have to worry about defending themselves because they're usually the first to attack out of the two gangs.

In the outsiders Ponyboy describes the socs as white trash, who drive around blue mustangs, and wear madra t-shirts. So the things that came into my mind were those specific things. When you think of the socs the first thing that comes to mind is the blue mustang that they always drive around in, which is essentially their trademark, just like how the greasers trademark is their grease in their hair.
The only way these kids could afford these cars are by their parents money and wealth. Unlike the greasers, the socs most likely have generational wealth, and their parents really don't care and practically give them all they want, which probably feeds their ego, to make a lot of the members of the gang act a certain way. That's why I put the image of the money.
For the last photo I put a madras shirts because in the book it mentions that a lot of them wear madras shirts, showing that they were wearing nicer clothes and have more money than the greasers do.

When Johnny is running away from the cops with Ponyboy the two of them hide away in an abandoned church up in Jay Mountain. The irony of that situation, is that church is a place where you go to ask God to forgive you for your sins, and where you are honest and ask for purity for the sake of your soul and spirit. The irony is that Johnny just commited the worst felony you possibly could by taking another person's life, then ran away from the police and hides in a church. Pretty ironic for the circumstance.
Usually if you committed any crime you wouldn't intentionally hide in a church, the house of God, after breaking the law. In the situation the two boys were in, they had to find somewhere to hide, and it was just an overall ironic situation.

After Johnny passed away due to the injuries he indured from the Church fire, the newspaper wrote a whole page on his story. One of the things they really emphasized was that he died a hero, since he did save the children in the church, sacrificing his life for the other kids.
Yet when Dally died he was put as a hoodlum and a juvenile delinquent, even though he was helping everyone at the church. The ironic part of this situation Johnny was called a hero when he murdered someone and Dally stole something and is always going to be known as criminal.

1) My number one prediction was that Johnny was going to die, at first I didn't know how but just by the description and his characteristics. His vulnerability was a key point that he could be taken advantage of by the socs, and that was my initial thought.
2) Dally always seemed more risk taking and spontaneous, his description made it obvious that he was the most rebellious and daring one out of the greasers. Since in the book it did mention he was in jail and always doing something to break the law. So I had suspicions that he would get caught (Which he did) and end up in jail. Even though he didn't necessarily end up in jail again, I feel like my prediction was well calculated and a good educated guess, since he technically did end up getting caught by the cops.
3) After reading about the interaction between Ponyboy and Cherry I thought that the two characters would end up dating one another or even just a kiss, which would sort of break the ice and get rid of the stigma between the Socs and the Greasers. I was completely wrong with this prediction but I do feel that it was a pretty good educated guess especially since the way they did have the slightest feelings for one another.
4) For my fourth prediction I thought that Ponyboy and Johnny would get busted by the cops and the rest of the greasers would have to bail them out of jail, and fight in court for Pony to stay with his brothers. This prediction was a little more specific than the rest of my other predictions but I felt with the topic and theme of the book it would fit right into the plot.

Identify the nature imagery in this poem

This poem really stands out since you can comprehend the meaning in anyway you truly want. Poems and writing is all about perspective, but what I really like about this poem, is that it's relatable to everyone just by the way it's written and you really don't need to interpret it independently, and more share the signification with others. All that being said the imagery in this poem is truly extraordinary since it's so simple yet complex. Whenever I read/hear this poem I think of nature which a lot of people probably think of when they hear this poem. The seasons changing really come to my mind. I can picture the seasons changing as each word hits my ear.

What is Robert Frost suggesting with each use of this type of imagery?

I believe that Robert Frost's meaning behind this poem and his use of imagery is more than the season's changing and nature, it's more used as a metaphor. Frost is most likely using the season's changing to hide the deeper meaning, for the readers and the world to sit there and ponder about what he was really trying to tell the world. Which I think is death. The reason why I think he is suggesting this topic with his use of imagery is because nothing can stay forever, which is what the poem is about, and one perfectly good example is nature and the warm season's, but when the weather changes it's when everything dies and shrivels up. Which could be used as a metaphor for dealing with the death of a loved one and dealing with the grief and the loss of said person.
Author's tend to lighten such delicate topics with metaphors that are nice yet can still resonate with the world.

How can this poem relate to The Outsiders and its characters?

This poem really does fit the theme of the outsiders characters in every way possible. Without even realising it at the start of the book is when their lives were good. Everyone was together in the gang and then once things took a turn, and the gang seperated and Johnny and Dally died is when the characters, Ponyboy especially realized how good it was and those days will never come back. Just like the poem says "Nothing gold can stay", they realize that saying is true, and they start dealing with their grief. Ponyboy doing so by writing about it, telling someone his struggles.

Write a theme statement that focuses on this poem and what you have read so far in the

novel.

As I mentioned in the previous questions I believe that the poem is about nature and the transitions of the seasons. I think Frost was trying to communicate the idea of change in a normal day life through this poem. Changes can be minor or drastic depending on if we like change or not we have to learn to get through it and keep living even if it's difficult. I think one of the transitions of life through this poem could be death, yes losing a sad one is a challenge and it's really hard to get through, but we have to keep living life, even through tough circumstances. Nature is one of the best metaphors for change, transition, death, a new beginning, so this poem is great for if you need inspiration, motivation, or even comfort through a time of need. That's what I think Frost was trying to get through the poem. For his words to help people, in anyway they can. All of this relates to what the greasers had gone through, with the curtis boy's parents dying, to them fighting off the greasers, hiding from the cops, and the death of Johnny and Dally. All of that links to the idea of change and growing up. The way they'll have to manage their grief and still live life.
