The average greeting contains a hug and a touch on the cheek with a kiss to the air before continuing a conversation. The translation for the start of a conversation is almost identical to that of America. "Hello, how are you", is customary ("Oi tudo bem") and a follow of "Good, and you?" ("Bem e voce"), and finally "Good, thank you", ("Bom Obrigado(a)").

The average diet in Brazil varies slightly from other South American countries because of its many Portuguese and African influences.
Also differing from many of the North American and European countries, in this country, lunch is the largest and most significant meal. Some schools in Brazil actually dismiss their students from school and permit them to go home to eat with their family before returning back to school for the rest of their day. Other schools start earlier than the average time to end the day in time for them to be home for lunch at home.
Breakfast is typically a light meal consisting of bread or a roll with jam and a cup of coffee and may also include fresh fruit, pastries, or ham and cheese. Dinner is lighter and may only consist of cold cuts, a seafood salad, or a serving of soup or stew.
Brazils national dish is Feijoda. Feijoda is black beans cooked with smoked meats and sausages and served with rice, sliced oranges, boiled greens, and a hot sauce mixed with lemon or lime juice and topped with toasted cassava (fahrina).

Many unique and original types of music have risen. The most recent and present in the evolving Brazilian society is called "Funk".

The gestures used in the Brazilian culture usually signify emotions and propositions just as the American culture does. Some examples of this includes pulling down the lower eyelid with an index finger signifies disbelief or caution, and tapping the fingers horizontally under the chin to indicate that another person does not know what he or she is talking about or is exaggerating. One difference between the conventional gestures of America and the conventional gestures of Brazil is the "thumbs up". While in America it is seen as a kind and an "okay", in Brazil it is seen as offensive.

Brazil's housing, for hundreds of years, have not been adequate to fulfill their population of residents. Larger cities have resorted to the creation of "slums", or high population, and less than comfortable living conditions. These slums have become a sort of endemic in the urban communities. Also, most rural dwellers live without running water of electricity. One of the more unique features of the Brazilian reputation is what is called Favelas. Favelas are a large community of dangerous, poorly constructed, low income housing located on the outskirts of both Sao Paulo and Rio De Janeiro.

Along with the conventional Catholic holidays as a majority, there are a few holidays that are unique to the country of Brazil. One being the most infamous, Carnival. This festival begins the Friday before Ash Wednesday and lasts six days total. The experience of Carnival is like no other in the world, to only because of its unique and exotic clothing, activities, and celebrations, but also because it is almost as if the entire Brazilian community shuts down for these six days. Companies across the country close down for the week all in preparation and enjoyment of this holiday. This year, Carnival will be held from March 1st-March 9th.

Fast forward to now, in 2019, a new president had taken office: Jair Bolsonaro. Already in his first two months of presidency, he has issued several different policies that undermine the obvious rights of a Brazilian citizen and also Brazilian nationals. Being known as the "Trump of the Tropics", Bolsonaro has promised to break the status quo of Brazil, but has many citizens worried.

An article written by CNN expresses the influence and evolving African culture of not only the country of Brazil, but more specifically, the Carnival festival. They go on to determine the root of this African influence stemmed from the migration of millions of slaves to the country beginning more than 300 years ago. Food, music, religion, dance, clothing, etc. are all byproducts of an integration African culture to modern South American culture. This articles overall statement and purpose for publishing was the thought that such a nation of diversity yet strict and unique culture, could all stem from one event over 300 years ago. The organization of a celebration where they would choose a man and a woman, and they would be the king and queen of Congo. That celebration turned out to be the beginning of the largest festival in Brazil: Carnival. The slave trade to South America has shaped the culture of Brazil in a very significant way, and may continue to shape the culture of the nation.
