         <description><![CDATA[<div>A women right convention was held in Seneca Falls, New York. This lead to the women's suffrage to achieve reform with the right to vote. During the women suffrage many women before the civil war demanded the right to vote. The women's suffrage was limited to only four states had the right at the beginning of the progressive era. The women's suffrage movement achieved the nineteenth amendment that gave women the right to vote. The prohibition movement is called "the first mass movement in US history"  and prohibition was spurred by women getting the right to vote.</div>]]></description>

Vanderbilt's steamship businesses had prospered as commerce grew all around the New York area and the rest of the northeast, and he even began acquiring some smaller railroads in Boston and New England.</div>]]></description>

Upton Sinclair wrote The Jungle to expose the appalling working conditions in the meat-packing industry. The rise of the Progressive Era was all about getting the government more involved with society problems instead of letting society take care of itself through natural selection.  The Pure Food and Drug Act and the Meat Inspection Act was passes because of this.</div>]]></description>
