prejudice is an unreasonable feeling agaisnt a person or group of people. Preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience, Negative attitude towards an individual or group. When a person acts on a prejudice it becomes discriminatio n. Some people are prejudiced against others just because they are different, older, from another country, speak a different or different faith. A person who is prejudiced against a group or person, tends to think they are superior and that their views and behaviour are right and others' are wrong, Once people develop prejudices against an individual or group, they may be more likely to discriminate against them, particularly if they are in position to make decisions about their health or welfare.

when you stereoype you attach a fixed idea or image to a person who belong to a particular group. It us usually an exaggerated generalisation which can often be offensive. for example, all old people play bingo, all teenagers are trouble makers, all blondes are dumb, all male hairdressers are gay, male nurses are gay, women are more emotional than men. Assumptions made about an individual could affect a persons health care. stereotyping can have a negative effect on people because it assumes that everyone in a certain group is the same need, This is clearly not the case and thinking in stereotypes prevents you from being a good carer. An example is in a care home thinking that old people make up symtoms and there is really nothing wrong with them at all

Disempowerment (make a person or group less powerful or confident) Individuals of groups that are discriminated against by other individuals or more powerful groups will feel disempowered. They may be willing to fight against this and in some cases will win their case. However, many do not and they lose he will to fight against discrimination. As a result of this, they may become depressed and devalued and disempowered, which in turn may lead to more health issues.
