The World Factbook provides information on history, people, government, economy, energy, geography, environment, communications, transportation, military, terrorism, and transnational issues for 266 countries. Appropriate for grades 5-12.

Features fun information on spies, codes, and code-breaking. Spy Kids provides various teaching tools, including stories, games, videos, and lesson plans with links to further information. Lesson topics include Armchair Traveler, Intelligence’s Role in War, Gathering and Analyzing Information,  Codes and Codebreaking, and Problem Solving. Appropriate for grades 5-12.

Provides learning resources for students to become “geographically literate” to better understand their world. 

This resource provides lessons on Document Analysis and DocsTeach the online teaching tool from the National Archives, which is the nation's record keeper of all documents and materials, including letters, reports, notes, memos, photographs, and other primary sources. The toolkit includes links to Teaching Activities with sources to support curriculum lesson plans for grades 4-12. For example,  Assimilation and the Native People of Metlakahtla, Alaska Seeing the Big Picture. The lesson includes curated groups of primary sources, objectives, primary source evaluation guidelines, suggested grade levels, and links to related materials. Each primary source has detailed information on where the source comes from with a full citation. These amazing resources will engage students and help them become critical thinkers. 

The MFA offers resources for teachers to engage students with the MFA's global collection. Currently, school group visits are on hold due to COVID-19. Distance Learning Programs allow students to explore with an MFA educator through live interactive programs on various topics scheduled throughout the school year. Educator Professional Development workshops for teachers and free admission to the galleries. Digital Resources for Educators to engage students with the Museum's global collection and connect your classroom to the MFA. Programs engage students while deepening curricular connections around expanded narratives and representation for grades K-12.  

Students study current environmental challenges and appreciate how individuals can affect local and global challenges and support good outcomes. Based at school sites, “e” inc.’s Planet Protectors Science Teams (PPST) is a science and civics program that brings STEM literacy to K-8 children. Using fun and dynamic activities that include: rainforests. ocean biodiversity, primates, water as a resource, energy in our lives, gardens and growing, local ecosystems, zero waste, weather and the changing climate. The Teen Green Teams get involved in science, leadership, social skills, and community action -- becoming proficient in an array of science topics as they work on new tasks, ideas, and projects. Resources are appropriate for grades K1-12.

The Paul Revere House actively preserves and interprets two of Boston’s oldest homes. The programs provide educational experiences based on historical issues and social history themes in Boston from the 17th through the early 20th century. The Education Department specializes in creating immersive learning experiences and workshops that offer opportunities to work with primary sources, hear from content experts, and discover new ways of integrating social studies content into a wide range of subjects. Previously offered topics include Technology in Paul Revere’s Time: Teaching Simple Machines through Social Studies, Rachel Revere: Revolutionary Woman, Writing, Reading, & Preserving 18th Century Letters, and Struggle towards Freedom: Slavery and Abolition in Massachusetts.  Resources are grade level appropriate from preK-12.  

 

The Museum of African American History’s education programs is rooted in historic sites, exhibitions, ongoing rich scholarly research, and collections of objects, documents, books, and art. MAAH supports cultural, historical, and visual literacy development and a multi-disciplinary approach for students and educators across grade levels and subject areas. MAAH education tours and programs are designed to meet the Massachusetts Social Studies Framework and Common Core standards. Using authentic words from primary source materials, students participate in opportunities such as the Abolitionists' Debate Program, Citizenship Petitions, and MLK Scholar Program. MAAH offers teachers professional development, events, and workshops.

Media resources and programs for both the formal classroom and informal learning spaces.  PBS LearningMedia, is a digital learning service with thousands of free, standards-aligned videos, interactives, and lesson plans spanning all subjects for K-12 teachers and students. Resources feature STEM Projects, Social Studies and Civics, Early Learning, and Teacher support.
