Hi Paul,

Thank you for presenting such an enlightening course! I have learned a great deal about the implementation of the BM course, as well as the IB in general.

This was not an easy course to undertake, but I definitely feel like I have gained a lot, not just from all the information that you have provide, but also from the insights, knowledge, resources and experiences of my fellow participants.

The start to our school year almost coincided with the start of this course. As such, it was both the best and worst timing for me to undertake this workshop. However, the skills and tools I gained here have so far been invaluable to my teaching, and I look forward to applying more of this knowledge throughout the next few years, and more specifically, the remaining time for my year 11 students, In many ways, as this is the first time I teach this course, I feel like I am learning along with my students!

I also feel more confident now than when I started off four weeks ago. I have a very good foundation of knowledge in regards to teaching BM, and I look forward to building upon that as time goes on. I am already registered for a cat. 2 course that is running in Sydney in April. If anyone else is booked in, I would love to catch up with you there!

Thanks for all the support and guidance Paul and all my colleagues.

Regards,

Hanade

Dear Paul and all my course members,

Thank you so much for providing me with such a content rich, insightful and reflective engagement. When I took over IB curriculum, I made all efforts to equip myself with good understanding of the approach and process needed to deliver it better. However, I kept encountering lots of hurdles and stuck ups. This workshop was a big help in disguise at the right moment. It helped me to clarify all my doubts and ambiguities and enriched me with lot of contextual material to enhance my knowledge and teaching process.

Workshop was well paced in terms of difficulty level. And I must admit it was not easy for me to keep up with it. Many a time I struggled and I had to read through enough content to give my inputs. The workshop was also challenging as it coincided with the board exams and mock exams of my other grades. Nevertheless, every link, URL, content source shared by Paul and my colleagues along with the views and perspectives posted, helped me to provide direction to my thinking. I loved interacting with each one of you and have a deep regard for the enriching experience and feedback shared.

The whole course has placed me in a very comfortable position to move ahead with my role. In fact, now I am really pleased to be connected with a curriculum which is so forward looking, learner centric with great autonomy for the learner as well as teacher to focus and reflect. I would be using all case studies shared, links posted and inputs given to enrich my lectures, IA interactions, EE interactions and pre seen case study preparations. I would love to develop myself further with a level two workshop as and when the opportunity arives.

I am really glad that I got a chance to connect with so many enriching people under the wonderful guidance of an excellent and encouraging facilitator Paul. And I would really love to connect with you all again in another workshop or for any other work commitment.

Looking forward while staying positive,

Hi Paul

This workshop has been a huge learning experience. When I started teaching last year I would be at crossroads quiet too often but this workshop has given me a lot of clarity.

The modules were designed in such a manner that sailing through them was very easy and the shift from one module to another was very comfortable and I realised that we have managed to touch almost all the major bases required for a new teacher in IB.

The resource network and the network of people that I've come across here will help us in times to come too.

Paul you have been a great mentor reminding us our work and then guiding me in each and every post and though of mine. thanks a ton. Looking forward to staying in touch with you all.

Hi!
As a first time IB teacher, this workshop has been very valuable to me because I have learned a lot from the IB program and its teaching methodology. I see the value of using a concept-based approach if I want students to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to succeed. It has helped me to have a better understanding of what the students are going to experience, and as a teacher it has made me reflect on how my teaching has been and the changes that I must undertake to adapt my teaching strategies to this new approach. I will take into a great consideration the context in which students will use their knowledge, make sure the activities are relevant and meaningful to the learning process. I think exposing students to ¨real world¨ concepts and think analytically are vital in this course. The use of formative assessments will have a predominant role in my classes from now on. Thank you all for sharing your experiences and knowledge. It was a challenge for me, but it was worth it

The introduction to the course concepts has clearly been the most helpful aspect fo the training. I need to truly determine how I will structure my course around these concepts in the future. The next step for me, as an instructor, is to continue to plan the course out and to study the material. Teaching Business Management is new to me so content knowledge is a challenge. However, I feel that I am now ready to take on the subject as an IB teacher and the pedagogical approach is present where my knowledge is lacking in other areas.

Practically speaking, I am trying to create a series of videos that I can post online in order to flip my classroom.

Dear Paul and all BM participants,

I started the course and wasn't too sure how I would handle the fact it was all via the internet. I am a bit of a people's person and enjoy interacting with people face to face. However, to my surprise I actually felt I got to know people through their posts - especially throughout the group project (creating the SOW). I also found that Paul and the IB have made the forum and platform for the training very user friendly and easy to follow. This meant I knew on the whole what I meant to do and when I had to do it.

I think the course was very successful in giving me a full overview of how the IB BM is designed to be delivered. I love the idea on concept learning and CUEGIS. It was really interesting to get others beliefs on this approach and how they would go about teaching different areas/topics. I think going forward there is much more work I can do on concepts based learning. In our SOW we adopted a topic based approach and I wonder would/could I be organised and brave enough to fully teach the course through the concepts rather than the topics. The IB really is a holistic course and I would like to think that by possibly adopting a more concept driven delivery method it might also place a greater emphasis on student taking responsibility of their learning and making the connections to different aspects of the course.

Paul you have facilitated and run (in a very supportive manner) a very useful and informative course. I have so many resources to go back to and to look at/store and use. As a strong believer in life long learning and being inspired by those around you I thoroughly enjoyed this course.

Thanks

Eilish

Dear Paul and team members

As spoken with Paul yesterday, when the school offered me the teaching post, I took a quick view of the syllabus, and most of it I had

the previous knowledge obtained through my education , teaching experience and management life experience.

After some days, when I started to read the BM guide, my eyes went " bigger" and what I was reading was " state of the art" teaching in the IB " learning culture"

This workshop was essential to me, all the topics covered, specially and a key point for me is all the assessment criteria and planification that we have to undertake, and the guidance we have to impart to our students

The " conceptual based approach" was new for me, up to some weeks behind I was a " classical " teacher , Ken Robinson opened my mind !

All the information in our threads made by my fellow members were very stimulating and also I learned a lot from them

Working by " side " with students is an stimulating attraction to the teaching process, that was also another key learning point for me

As a new IB teacher , this is challenge, and I am confident that I will contribute in the teaching process of the BM course through all the specific guidelines and responsibility of my teaching post.

Hope that you have a good start with the BM course !

Best Regards

Dear Paul & Team Members,

IBDP workshop has been a tremendous learning experience. This workshop was a complete package of learning, experience, development, understanding, analyzing and above all teamwork, that too from all across the globe—this was the best part, I could never imagine it would be possible but kudos, all my team members. This platform also gave an opportunity to network with people who came from diverse backgrounds, sharing their knowledge and experience added to my learning.

I am also impressed of how interactive the platform is, constant interaction this way or the other, via comments on various forums, coffee corner, inbox and what not.

The nature of challenges varied from one module to the other, but Module 3 was indeed quite demanding, yet a learned experience. I was in the phase of developing a course outline for my institute and Module 3 started almost at the same time, proved to be extremely beneficial—so many things were clarified during the module that now I am confident I would be able to develop a proper course outline reflecting upon all the important aspects. And, in fact it’s not just this module, due to the other modules and activities, I have no further ambiguities. It has given me confidence, and I am in much better position to take the responsibility as an IB-Business Management Teacher.

Paul, I need to give this credit to you. You have been an amazing facilitator, managing students virtually and who have different time zones must be challenging—but you have been there for every single individual. Answering their queries, giving feedback, correcting us where we went wrong, giving us the right direction and last but not the least sharing useful resources that at least I wouldn’t have been able to think of. You have been a great mentor— I learnt a lot with your continuous guidance, and I would like to thank you again, for always answering my questions as I am mostly inquisitive to know things first and then work on them (step one towards IBDP perhaps, kidding)

The whole 4 weeks experience has been worth it. Dear Paul and Team,

Coming from the background of working with schools that encouraged and promoted active learning techniques and methodologies, the thing that caught my attention the most on IB was the mixture of these methodologies that put students in the center of the learning, a thorough concept-based syllabus and an emphasis given to the formation of lifelong learners.

Being a Language Arts teacher primarily, I felt delivering a Business Management course would be a challenging thing. It was way more difficult than I had predicted... still, at the same time, incredibly enriching.

IB BM is incredibly well-designed and through the workshop we gain full overview on how it is meant to be delivered. The fact that the course is so strongly based on concepts and that the delivery is made through case studies that appeal to students and can be connected to content is something that really makes sense to me. Contextualizing situations and getting students to be engaged and involved is an easier task when you have a syllabus that was made to work holistically.

I still have a lot of studying to do and during the six months we still have to access the workshop I’ll be logging in to refer back to links, activities, methodologies, and case studies and most importantly points of view and takes on the course all of you mentioned.

You were for me the best part of it for me. As some have already mentioned here, things were said repeatedly but always with new insights, with a new perspective, with a new global, national and local specificity. That made all the difference to me.

The fact that we have other teachers worldwide willing to guide students towards learning, aware of of how they need to be responsible for their learning proved to me education is on the right track.

Please, keep in touch group. One can learn some much with you all.

Hi Paul and my team members,

Thank you so much Paul for providing such an amazing course! I have learned a lot about the course in general, especially in the part of the approaches to teaching and learning of BM, the syllabus content and the assessments. And I also want to thanks all the workshop members for sharing your knowledge, experiences and passion to the course.
I would say it is not a easy course for me since it is my first time to be a BM teacher and the first time to teach IB course. I was a little concerned on the beginning of the workshop, However, through reading the guide and completing the activities of each modules, I found that I had a deeper understanding of IB philosophy, and also learned a lots of methods on leaning assessment, course planning and implementation. Module 3 is my favorite module, I really enjoyed the time when all of my group members working together to finish the course outline. My next steps is preparing the course outline for the DP verification visit, and I think I am ready for the visit after completing the workshop.
Moreover, all the resources that have been shared are invaluable and I have already added them in my favorites. Thank you all once again for this wonderful workshop!

Good luck!
Shiwei

Dear Paul and team members,
Thank you Paul for such a challenging yet amazing and invaluable course!
This course has been a very enjoyable, meaningful and thoroughly rewarding experience for me. I have gained insights into myself and definitely have raised my level of awareness of how to implement an IB curriculum to a completely new plateau.
Honestly, before this course, I really did not understand much what I am expected to do. This has been a stimulating, thought-provoking and enlightening course for me, which highlighted several areas in which I feel I do well, but more importantly several others in which I need to improve. I now feel better equipped to do so. I will take back so many things that will improve the student learning in my school. This course helped me to really and truly keep my vision and practice student-centered.
My confidence in my ability to do my job as IB Business Management teacher has grown immensely. I feel that, despite my lack of experience, I have the tools to be effective in my teaching. I cannot wait to come back next time for further professional growth and networking. Thanks!

Best regards,
Begim
