Jackson used his power as president to give himself more power as president and disrupted the democracy. By creating the Spoils System he created a bias in the federal government because he filled the government with his supporters. He also created the first Kitchen Cabinet giving many unqualified and not approved by the senate into a group of people who supported him. These people were given lots of power over what he chose to do. His actions had a major impact on the democracy, and created many acts that are currently used today.

The Americans believed that they should expand westward, and that this is what they were meant to do. As the Americans moved into Texas, it raised lots of tension between the Americans and the Mexicans. Once they shoved the Mexicans out of Texas, the US had more land which meant more arguments on Slavery. This raised tension in the US and added to current fighting.
