**Background/Expertise:**
Has previous experience working in the biotech industry (Cambridge Consultants; Nuclera Nucleics). Her MSci was in Natural Sciences at University College London, and she continued there for her PhD in Synthetic Biology and Biotechnology, specialising in Xenobiology and biosafety/biocontainment. 
Looking further back, she co-founded the London SynBio Network as a place for early careers researchers to share and discuss their research, and has been an active member of the iGEM community since 2014.

We have a dedicated cohort of about 7 members who meet regularly to participate in our Open Enzymes project, funded via Experiment.com. We have made plasmid stocks of 80 out of the 81 enzymes in the Open Enzymes collection and are moving them into expression vectors for distribution. Our goal is to become a true hub for these materials and help develop/test expression protocols for low-resource settings.

I’m Enrico Calore, and I recently earned an MSc in Biomedical Engineering, majoring in Synthetic and Systems Biology at Duke University (North Carolina, USA).


What drives me most is the translational side of synthetic biology, the chance not only to generate knowledge but also to turn it into tools that serve people, especially in low and middle income settings. I hope to start my doctoral studies in this direction and contribute to developing practical solutions to pressing challenges in global health.


I see Reclone as a wonderful opportunity to learn from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences, by sharing technical skills, embracing the creativity and open-mindedness needed to approach challenges from different angles, and drawing inspiration from the strong sense of humanity and empathy that drives this community. I’m excited to contribute to the collective effort toward equitable access to biotechnology and to support the growth of this unique network.
