Monarchy, Tyranny, Oligarchy, Representative Democracy, and Direct Democracy are all types of government. Government is something very important and without it, we would fall apart.
Greek Connection:
This connects to Greek because Athens, a city-state in Greece, is known as the created of Democracy. Greece also had all the other types of government (Oligarchy, Tyranny, and Monarchy) throughout its history.

Slaves, woman, children, and foreigners were not citizens. Citizens could vote, had more rights, could attend Assembly.
Greek Connection:
Only citizens could vote in Ancient Greece (see picture below). They were very sexist and racist back then, since foreigners and woman could not vote. Men, or citizens, also had more rights then other people, the had the right to punish slaves whenever they pleased and the woman could not.

There called city-states because they were separated by mountains, so they had their own government and rules.
Greek Connection:
The term 'city-state' used invented by the Greeks. Since the city were so far apart, they could not meet up and talk about imported problems. So they were a state like city with there on laws and rulers.

Definition in my own words:
Is a type of government that was used in ancient times. This type of government is when one person rules a country. This is different from Monarchy because they abuse this power. The Tyranny leader is often a cruel selfish ruler. Some actually were very good rulers, they made good decisions and helped the poor.
Many people who were not from Greece over threw the leader and claimed himself as leader. Although they were not always mean and unruly with there power, they will also have that title since they sometimes killed for the throne.

Definition in my own words:
A monarchy is a type of government. Monarchy is when it is a king or queen ruling a country. This is a government often used in ancient times, not just the Greeks. The king's son, or the prince, will always be the next in line. If the king and queen don't have a son, their daughter must marry.
Greek Connection:
The Greeks did have kings before Democracy. This is a very common government in ancient times. It was used by the Greeks and the Egyptians, just to name a few. Although not everyone agreed with this, they had no choice but to go with it.
