Social media doesn't always accurately represent a person's professional abilities or work ethic. Allowing employers to use this information could result in biased decisions based on incomplete or out-of-context information, potentially overlooking qualified candidates unfairly.

I believe employers should look at what someone posts on social media when deciding to hire them because it can show how they act. If someone is always posting about partying, it might mean they won't work hard or could be tired at their job. But it’s also important to remember that what people share online doesn’t always show the whole story about who they are.

I believe that social media should be a factor when hiring someone. Having people that bring a negative energy or cause chaos in a workspace can cause other employees to be taken off-task. People also post the things they find important. If someone is posting themself doing drugs, they aren't a good hire. However, if they are posting things related to the field of work they are applying for, they obviously have a passion for it.

I’m in the middle, social media is not the person hiring’s business, if they’re posting bad stuff then I get it. But if it’s just general stuff like travels, going out having fun and stuff like that then I don’t see why they would snoop, another reason why I think your socials should be private

I think employers should be careful about using social media to make hiring decisions, as it can lead to unfair judgments and bias. While social media can show a bit about a person’s character, it doesn’t always reflect their job skills. It's important to balance the need for information with respect for privacy to ensure fair hiring.

I think it's very important to have a digital footprint because it says a lot about the person. Depending on the job, it doesn't have to be something main to accept or not. Many other things count besides the digital footprint.

I think social media should be part of the hiring process. However, an employer should not make a final hiring decision on the person's social media account. They might ask the person if they are any questions about their social media post to clarify any misunderstandings. There is always an explanation behind each post.

Employers should be cautious when making hiring decisions based on a person's social media activity. While social media can provide information into a candidate's personality and behavior but, it may also lead to misinterpretations. For example, an employer could unfairly judge someone based on posts taken out of context or outdated opinions.
