"not fully but yes because i have been given the opportunity to go to school, i was able to buy my first property but i'm still not where i want to be"  

is the american dream realistic to achieve? 
"I think everyone is capable of doing it, so it is realistic to achieve but i dont think people work hard enough to make it come true" 

what happens if a person falls short on their american dream?
"well i think it means something different for everyone, but i think if someone falls short its a disappointment and they try to push it on their kids for them to pursue it"

"no"

what is one piece of advice you remember your parents tried to press upon you? 
"the importance of education and the opportunities that you would get with a degree  and with speaking two languages"

did you take that advice? why or why not? 
"yes, speaking two languages really opened the door to getting paid more in jobs, i saw within the age that having an education does matter in order for you to live a comfortable life"

The book showed us how hard life was for her as a kid trying to impress her parents even tho they would neglect her as a child. For example, reyna grew up in Guerrero which is the poorest part of mexico, america gave her the opportunity to become something in life such as a book writer. an example i have from the text is "america can seem like the land of opportunity to many people from impoverished or dangerous countries." "American movies reveal that life is glamours and within an easy reach" (reyna grande) this shows that the american dream could look like the movies if you try your best. In an immigrants life america is a beautiful rich life but when immigrants come to america they dont realize the difficulty it is until they test the waters themselves. the distance between us is a perfect example of what life would be like if you really put your mind to it and work hard.
