While Piggy is still his rational self, he is shown to be more aggressive, as instead of "retiring meekly", he beats the water with his hands and shouts at Ralph.

Simon has contemplated all he can about the island and states "What else is there to do?" His actions are a testament to his wisdom as he realizes that The Beast is a dead man in a parachute. Simon is killed by the savages as he tries to tell them about the true nature of The Beast.

Jack is delving deeper and deeper into savagery as he hosts his party to make sway the kids to his tribe. He shows his true nature as he rules through quick pleasures (meat), violence, and might (protection from the beast/hunters).

This causes him to throw up and finally untangle the dead pilot. He then heads to Jacks feast with the pilots body to show there is no real beast. 
At the feast Jack is acting kingly and monarchally as he sits on a throne eating pig. Jack extends an invitation to Ralph's followers to join his tribe and most of them accept. The boys start to chant and dance around the fire creating a deranged atmosphere. Simon the exits from the forest with the pilots body but the boys mistake him for the beast and attack him. Simon then falls down onto the beach and is crushed by the boys, killing him. 'Simon spoke aloud to the clearing. "What else is there to do?" Nothing replied.' He uses pathetic fallacy to demonstrate the irrational questions the boys have for the island, and cannot answer. Another technique used by Golding is cumulative listing to provide in depth descriptions of the dead parachutist, as demonstrated 'The tangle of lines showed him the mechanics of this parody; he examined the white nasal bones, the teeth, the colours of corruption.' This technique is used to reveal the mysterious figure that taunted the boys on the island with visions of a beast. The additional information provides imagery to present the idea of decay, and how that represents how all the boys are slowly decaying mentally alongside this pitiful figure of a man. The language techniques are also used to show a shift in power between the boys, and how Jack has become the monarch/dictator of the island. 'His tone conveyed a warning, given out of the pride of ownership...Jack rose from the log that was his throne and sauntered to the edge of the grass.' The symbolic nature of a 'throne' demonstrates Jack's increasing power and how he undermines Ralph's power a chief, and further continues "You haven't got it with you," said Jack, sneering. "You left it behind. See, clever? And the conch doesn't count at this end of the island -". The truncated sentences demonstrate Jack's power with his words, and how he seizes control demeaning the power that the conch used to represent. Lastly, a technique that Golding uses is personal pronouns which then transform from 'him' to 'the beast' and 'it'. 'The beast was on its knees in the centre, its arms folded over its face. It was crying out against the abominable noise something about a body on the hill.' He uses this transition in pronouns to demonstrate how the hunters see Simon in their haze of savagery.

The context of the chapter is that Jack has caught a pig and offers a feast in an attempt to sway the populace to his side.
This chapter shows Civilization versus Savagery as the boys are swayed to Savagery. Throughout the book it is shown that whilst Civilization is the best option overall, it is built on delayed satisfaction, and the boys of the island are living day by day, making the vast majority of them abandon the projects Ralph sets out to achieve. 
Meanwhile Savagery is focused on day by day survival and instant gratification, which appeals to the boys mentalities perfectly, and it's shown with how every boy leaves for the feast, and the vast majority join Jack's clan.

Crowd Mentality is also a heavy theme as the boys stop being a lazy group of boys and become a savage clan. This is emphasized with how when Simon bursts onto the beach, he isn't met with people asking what's wrong with him, or even individuals running away from The Beast, but he's met with a crowd of boys, chanting as one, surrounding him until they ultimately kill him in a frenzy.
