Since space is a vacuum, there is no air and thus, no medium for the sound to travel to our ears. If there was air in space, what would the surroundings sound like?

However, we are able to hear these sounds from afar which is impossible.
Firstly, to explain how sound works, sound requires a medium to travel through. They do so by vibrating the particles in the medium so that they bump into each other. Eventually the vibrations of the particles will reach your ear/ear drums which our brain can then intepret as sound.
However in space, a vacuum, there is no/very little particles present to be vibrated.

The explosions and lasers occur in space, which is a vacuum. This means that sound, which is transmitted through the vibration of air molecules, should not be able to travel through space and be heard by us viewers.

However, despite also being in space, we should be able to hear the dialogues between the pilots. This is because there are air particles in the cockpit of their Resistance Bomber, which allows sound made by them to travel to the co-pilots through them vibrating about a fixed position and bumping into other air molecules till it reaches the co-pilots.

Q: How do explosions cause the vibration of air particles which produces their unique type of sound?

Sound waves need a specific medium to vibrate through (like air) and since space is a vacuum without any air, sound waves are unable to be transmitted.

For example, a small scale example was used to illustrate how sound cannot travel through a vacuum (represented by a sealed glass jar with no air) and the music from a cell phone could not be heard once the jar was sealed tight.

Question: If sound is able to travel through water, why does it sound blur when we try to talk underwater

Within the video were many fights, accompanied by the sounds of the fighting such as explosions and laser blasts. However, space is a vacuum, which sound should not be able to travel through, hence there should be no sound by right.
Q: Why is it then when there is music or sound underwater it sounds muffled

As sound is a result of the vibration of atoms, it is a vector quantity that requires a medium to travel. Since space is a vacuum, the explosion should not cause any sound as the blast would not disrupt any atoms as there are none. As a result, the explosion should be completely silent.
