Flexibility - I want to increase my flexibility so that I can have more control during my dancing and so I am capable of more tricks. I am going to do weekly stretching sessions with regular check ins

Dance reps - I want to be able to pick up choreography faster and characterise my dancing faster so I can make my choices purposeful. To do this I am going to learn a new dance rep every 2 weeks

It helps to sound and move better if you plan where to breathe.

To exercise, you could hum while jogging on the spot.

Harmony skills

This skill is important in the industry because if you’re ever doing group work you’ll have to add harmonies and get put into set groups. It’s also good to have this skill so whenever you need to work in a group doing harmonies you can do it and not have to worry about not knowing what set group of harmonies you’re in.

Characterisation

This skill is important in the industry because every show you do you’ll need to be in character and show your characters emotion. It’s good to have the skill as-well because you don’t have to worry about not being able to use characterisation.

-characterisation: accents, gate, etc: to help portray a character better. Research the character.

• Why? - Characters in musicals go through through experiences, challenges, and transformations, characters allow the audience to empathize and form an emotional connection with the story.

• How ?- Do deep research into characters, Pick out key parts in songs/scripts to analyze an question why they say/do this so you can feel more connected to the character.

• Objective and Obstacle: Identify each character’s main objective in a scene or the entire play. What do they want? Then, determine what obstacles stand in their way. This can help actors understand their character's driving force and how they react to challenges.

• Physicality and Mannerisms: Develop distinct physical traits and mannerisms for each character. Consider how they walk, sit, gesture, and express emotions. Practice these traits until they become second nature.

• Voice and Speech: Explore different vocal qualities for your characters. Experiment with tone, pitch, pace, and accents to find a unique voice for each one. Practice delivering lines with these variations.

  So I look slightly more coherent in dance pieces and less messy, also because dance is a big part of musical theatre and I need to get better in general.

I could improve by practicing in my own times, and watching tutorials, and try to memorise them and see how well I do

Flexibility/ dance technique- I want to focus in more detail from my last development plan on characterisation whilst dancing and relate it to my musical character as gaining a skill like this will enhance opportunities and differ my abilities from others. I also want to be able to do more advanced tricks with flexibility and be able to improve my back flexibility for different tumbles.

How?- vocal exercises and warm ups, improve confidence by singing in front of others, working on scales.

Flexibility- stretches, exercises, watching myself in the mirror whilst dancing, carrying out different kicks and attempting different tricks. Leg exercises to gain height for tricks such as calypsos.

The costume and set help set the scene of it being a dangerous place full of dangerous people as its a dark foggy scene in some branches that don't have leaves. The costumes resemble the outfits of people who would have lived in the streets of Victorian London and committed crimes. The animals used in this scene are often thought to be untrustworthy tricksters.

The dance styles in this piece are jazz and commercial.

• why? Dance skills are important to have/ improve on to ultimately become a more able performer within the industry. Personally i think i would become a much more confident performer if i improve within dance.

• how ? I can improve on this by practicing daily and doing exercises to improve flexibility e.g dynamic stretches (leg swings). I could also attend dance classes to help improvement and to track progress.

-breath control

• why? Having stable breath control allows me to have both a powerful and loud voice aswell as a clear soft sound. This makes the performer appeal at ease to the audience

• how? To improve on my breath control i will do certain exercises daily. These exercises consist of vocal sirens, lip trilling, belly breathing, straw breathing ect..

The musical was written written by George stiles and Anthony Drewe. Julian Fellowes had written the book (“script”). It is based from a novel with the same name written by Kenneth Grahame

my second target is learning lyrics. this target will be presented in Musical. I have chosen this target as I am not yet sure what character I am going to play but learning lyrics is crucial to a performance.

my final target will be continuing on from development plan 1 as it is to work on my flexibility. this is a personal target so wont be shown in a performance. it will help me when auditioning for drama schools as it gives me more of a flow when dancing and choreographing.

Pickup speed- I chose this target to increase my speed with picking up choreography for learning dance routines. This will be useful for auditions for different unis. It also means I can focus more on performing the routine rather than focusing on the moves. To do this I will learn a new dance rep every two weeks.

Repertoire- I want to build up my repertoire for audition situations to have a wide variety of songs I can choose from. To do this I will learn a new song every week to fill up the empty spaces in my repertoire.

It is important in the industry to be flexible especially when starting out so that there is a wider range of characters that I can be cast for

Singing Stamina

The featured songs in our musical show case and in our musical contain dancing and lots of action during the songs therefore it is important to be able to sustain notes and practice good breath control to maintain a good balance with singing and dancing.

The industry has similar standards where is is expected that you are able to dance and sing and still deliver solid vocals. There are roles out there that would require me to do extensive dance routines and still sing

Beyoncé does an exercerise where she sings as she runs and this helps her prepare for her shows with a lot of dance performance aspects
