This stood out to me because i never knew that before an that made so much sense. Piggybacking off of that I liked when he talked about the puzzle experiment and showed that the kids that got fixed mind set praise scored lower and were 3 times more likely to lie about the scores then the growth mindset praised kids. I likes this because it shows just how much having a fixed mindset can hurt you and how growth mindsets can help you

The students who think they know how to do something naturally will struggle with failure because they think they are supposed to be good, which I have noticed through my own experience.

The speaker was talking about a survey thing that they did where they either gave a kid a fixed mindset compliment or a growth mindset compliment. And the kids that were given a fixed mindset compliment picked to do an easier puzzle while the growth mindset kids picked to do a harder challenge. And after receiving their scores, the majority of the fixed mindset kids lied about what score they got when the growth mindset kids were more honest. The speaker definitely strengthened my understanding of a growth and fixed mindsets.

I loved that and it caught my attention because, it reminds me that it's all about the process and progress, the failures to achieve the successes, that really matter. The second things that stood out to me was how, what we say and how we praise, matters. The right phrase can build a growth mindset, but the wrong phrase can lock someone into a fixed mindset. It just stood out to me because I didn't realize how simple and small things like that can really affect people's minds.

I found it surprising that for the puzzle study, the students who got comments for a fixed mindset didn't want to take on the harder puzzle. I thought that they would have more confidence in themselves to take on the challenge. The first study that showed how the students progressed over the year after sharing their opinion also stood out to me. I found it interesting that the students with a fixed mindset overall progress declined. The speaker did not change my mind about intelligence it actually reinforced my opinion.
