Narrow road agency is an agency that specialises in promoting unique talent such from actors to creatives. They are members of the personal managers association and equity, since 1985.

This agency is appealing to me as they not only specialise in working with actors, but lots of other creatives such as directors, writers, costume designers and more.

To be taken on this agency, some things I may need to do include improving my skills an actor, such as voice. alongside my skills in other areas, such as editing.

The trend and development in diversity and inclusion in theatre/film is one of the things that have changed within the industry, especially in the last few years.

Over the years, the inclusion of different ethnicities, gender identities, sexualities and disabilties have become represented more frequently, whilst some are negative others are more positive, like hearts topper. Diversity and inclusion has so many positive effects, but some negative. When done purely for attention or money, diverse casting can do more harm then good.

As an actor within the industry, diversity and inclusion can help to provide roles that represent me in a positive way, such as trans characters or someone on the lgbtq spectrum. These are roles that wouldn’t off been available years ago.

Being able to accept and acknowledge this inclusion and diversity in a positive way can be very good for your career

self promotion & social media:
- It is important to self promote whilst you currently are not working on a project. even when working on a project, it is important to post about what you can on social media, using appropriate tags, clear photos and videos to showcase current projects. Social media is a great way to self promote, as it is a great way of showing that you are active in the performing arts industry. Having a website is another great way to self promote, as it shows professionality, but also allows for all your previous work and experience (alongside other important things such as your cv, headshot and more) to be in one easily assessable place.

follow industry social media:
- by following other industry related accounts on social media such as theatre groups or actors, it can keep you updated on casting calls, upcoming performances and movies and also issues within the industry. By following other actors, its a great way to form connections with them. Following agency's and casting calls will help to find opportunities and get spotted. Looking at various agency's will allow for you to find which one is the best fit for you and your skills. Following local theatre groups may allow you to find new on stage or backstage opportunities close to you.

attending new productions/films:
- By going to see new onstage productions and films, you are offering financial support to the industry, allowing it to continue creating pieces of theatre. attending performances may also help to get further insight into what casting directors are looking for in certain roles, and help you to develop an understanding on the difference between acting for camera and acting on stage.

join industry groups:
- joining industry groups as an actor or creative team will open up many opportunities, it will help provide networking opportunities, keep you updated on industry news and provide constant opportunities to work on your skills. joining a group can help amplify its voice and allow for it to continue working.

keep up to date with technology:
- keeping up to date as an actor and creative team member is very important. Technology is constantly developing, and is being used in film/theatre more and more. being educated in it will allow for you to remain up to date with industry standards. Nowadays, live theatres use things such as projections, holograms and even live captions in some theatres. Backstage you will see set controlled by motors. Pre/Post and during production, cameras and phones are used to take promotional footage, make promotional posts on social media and even used for scripts. There are many aspects of theatre that heavily rely on technology and many others that will in the future, so remaining on top of these changes will be helpful to ensuring a job in the industry to come.

read industry blogs and publications:
- blogs are constantly being updated, and therefor new and current information is always available. reading blogs can provide useful knowledge and keep you up to date on trends, controversy's and projects. Blogs may also provide tutorials or advice on certain areas of the industry you are unsure of. Publications can provide the same information, perhaps in a more formal matter. They can cover a range of topics in the industry such as live theatre, dance, film and more. Providing an insight into various aspects behind these subjects and allowing you to be refreshed on any subject. However these aren't as frequent as blog posts.

take courses and workshops:
- as an actor or creative team member, courses and workshops are a great way to refine your skills and try something new. They are often held by professionals within the industry and you may gain connections by taking part in their workshops. The courses and workshops may provide an insight into new techniques or warm ups that you hadn't known about or considered, but find effective. courses are a great way to expand your knowledge and education about a particular part of the industry and may teach you some new information.

networking:
- networking can be done both socially and physically in person, it has many benefits. If you network with someone who isn't necessarily influential or in a casting/hiring position,it isn't a bad network, as they may have connections to someone who is. Its important not only as an actor but also as a creative team member to form strong connections with people, reach out and talk to fellow actors, editors and casting directors, asking for advice, questions and more. it can be really beneficial to network as it can help you find work and oppurtunities.

be aware of box office and revenue data:
- by remaining aware of the box office, and what has succeeded. You will have a better look at what is considered good media, and what isn't. It makes you think about "why has this done so well, what aspects made it as popular as it is, what can i learn from this and use to improve own work"

adapt and innovate:
- the performing arts industry is ever evolving, whether it be socially, technology wise or style wise. As with any other career, you must be able to adapt to its change and innovate how you as a performer or editor work. Your skills constantly need to be adapted to best fit the current working environment, but when working on these skills its also important to take into account their use in the future of the industry. Will those skills be practical and useful in 10 years time, and how can i innovate those skills to grow with the industry.

STAGE 1: brainstorm

who am i?
i am a bit of a geek, i have lots of interests that are very important to me. I want people to view me in a positive manner and to like me as i am. I have a lot of creative related skills that are useful in helping me do what i enjoy.

STAGE 2: important values

What matters most to me is being apart of an inclusive environment, and surrounding myself with people who are good people with good intentions. Having relationships and friendships with people who share similar interests.

STAGE 3: unique

what makes me unique? Alongside bieng a actor, i also have skills and interests in editing and art. They are passions of mine.

STAGE 4: perception

I want others to view me as a creative person. To look past my constant talk of interests/obsessions and see the passion and motivation they give me to create my own pieces of media. When people see me i would like for them to see me as a passionate person with plenty of experience in the industry. I would like to be appreciated and respected by others, whether they are in the industry or not.

STAGE 5: future group

A future person/group i may need to communicate with may be casting directors. To casting directors, things that are important include confidence, dedication and passion for the subject/topic. They may be communicated with via phone or email, and they may look at social media of performers to look into more detail about their experience.

STAGE 6: write your brand

I am a aspiring actor with a passion for editing and creating mixed media, My current training is constantly allowing me to further develop my current skills and to develop new ones. All of which will help me to be recognised as a hardworking, creative professional in the industry.

Holograms in Live Theatre:

Holograms have many abilities that can be continuously developed in time to create unique and interesting aspects to shows.

Holograms can create realistic illusions, placing characters in wild locations quickly without the need of to much set changes. It can place people in and even provide a almost transparent effect, this could really work in terms of a ghost or robot character.

It offers hyper realistic immersive effects that can really impact a live piece of theatre.

Certain sci-fi or futuristic shows and musicals could benefit from holograms. They could be used in very creative ways, for example: a production of be more chill could use holograms to showcase the squip and how they influence character's and surroundings.

With the development of holograms, there may be pro's and con's to an actors career. The hologram projected may be pre recorded footage of an actor, providing them with a job but also with availability. Hyper realistic holograms could increase ensemble sizes, giving the illusion of large crowds with small casts. Or even possibly be a great alternative if a cast member is absent or ill. It may also allow for more interesting or dangerous stunts to be performed on stage in short scenes, such as a leap across a large gap or a intense fight. They could be pre recorded in safe environment and reduce the risks of an actor performing it live every night. Holograms may also be used to provide magic effects in fantasy pieces of theatre. The use of holograms can really help to make an actor's performance. However If the holograms contained cgi and voice ai generated people, it may take jobs or opportunities away from real actors.

To develop an understanding of this advancement, Actors and/or stage managers may need further education into hologram projectors work and what is needed to make a hologram work logistically and look natural.

if i was to redo The Antony's again, i would focus my time on aspects i struggled with such as the choreography. And find ways to use my time so that everything had equal rehearsal time, and figuring out a way to give more time to something i think needs more attention or work on.

strengths:
- portraying numerous characters both on stage and on screen.
weakness:
- not spending enough time rehearsing our duet. leading us to be un confident in performing it.

- performing the Antonys gave me the chance to become more confident in singing to an audience
- as the editor for the Antonys, it gave me a chance to look at different editing styles throughout history and put them to practice

Pantomime 2022:
strengths:
- being given the opportunity to portray a character who's traits were similar to my own, making it easier for to understand how the character may act in certain situations and scenarios.
- I managed to portray jethro consistently throughout the show on all nights.
-I presented many skills such as my creative, voice and movement skills.
weaknesses:
- having a lot more lines/stage directions to learn, as this was my first lead since primary school, i became stressed with setting and learning so much in a short time frame, this was however something i overcame
- one skill i struggled to develop was my movement, mainly dance. This is a skill many others were confident and strong in, but as i am not good at due to balance issues.
- this led to me feeling quite insecure and unconfident
opportunities:
- this production gave me the opportunity to portray a lead male for the first time.
- as a result of my worry to not learn everything in time, i found myself developing my time management skills.
threats:
- on the first night after the show, i faced a situation at the bus stop which had some mental problems and could've led to me becoming sick.
- thankfully i didn't become sick, but i was internally very stressed about going home for the next few nights, and coming into college during the day. This stress and fear lingered in my mind during performances and stopped me from giving it my everything.

Julians apology Monologue 1.

What went well

You had really strong emotion and really felt was Julian was feeling .

You kept at a very good pace throughout and you delivered this monologue with clear speech and confidence.

Incorporating the hands when needed work effectively and really helped to further push how you were feeling and saying.

Better ifs

Try leaving a little gap after you started recording to saying your monologue and after so you don’t get the stopping and starting of the recordings.

The costumes really helped bring the characters to life and shows you put a lot of thought into your self-tapes. The colour correction really helped make the videos standout and really vibrant. And the editing and synching of the voice clips worked well

Whilst editing my self tapes, i have taken some things into account. I wanted to look more into specific editing such as color correcting or audio. For some of my clips the audio recording is backtracked, and therefore did not sink up with my mouth. So in editing i had to extract the audio and move it so that it synced with my mouth. I also looked into color correction to make my self tapes look more appealing.

use of voice is really good, the emotion being portrayed is clear and understandable. I can tell what emotions the character is supposed to be feeling through your tone of voice. :)

for some improvement, id say work on facial expressions. take pauses as though you didn’t know exactly what you were gonna say.

the pace is good, the slower pace really helps to set the tone of the monologue. The diction on “that you are here, that life exists” is a great choice and really helps to deliver the message.

filming in separate takes can work for practicing certain sections. but for future final monologues do it as one whole take :)

how am I going to work on these skills? To work on these skills I have created a plan and schedule to follow.

Social Media/Editing:

to work on this skill, I am going to take photos and videos during the college day. These photos and videos will be relevant to current college projects such as rehearsals.
I will then take these photos/videos, and edit them to add relevant visuals and graphics, or even just basic colour correction to make them look more appealing.
I will take the finished photos and videos and put them onto my acting instagram account. Using appropriate hashtags that I have written or used chatgpt as inspiration for.

Naturalism/Self tapes:

To improve this skill, I am going to select some of my favourite scenes and dialogues from my favourite films and tv shows. I will then record myself doing these monologues, even filming myself as separate characters.
I will then edit these self tapes to a professional standard, and edit it so that my two separate delivery of characters interact with each other smoothly without any errors.
I will then submit these to my Padlet, and my acting instagram account. I can also submit these to my showreel for acting for camera.

I will be working alongside maddi, as we will helping each other with our self tapes and give each other feedback as to what we did well, and what we can improve on. we will then take each others feedbacks into account.

how am I going to measure my success?

By recording self tapes from the start to end of the deadline, I can see my progress and improvement. I can look at what areas I have improved upon, and what areas still need improving. Recording myself practicing these monologues will also allow me to see my progress behind specific scenes.

By creating content for social media and editing it, I can keep my feed updated with my latest projects and achievements. This will also allow me to stay updated with my editing skills. I can measure my success by seeing that I’ve stuck to my schedule, and posted about all of the things I have done and am going to be doing. Such as devising work.
