I wonder if English Learners are really getting all the help they need right now?

I learned- that not all English Learners are getting what they need to be successful, especially during distance learning. I had to quickly adapt and learn how to provide them with translated versions of stories, as well as their work while also encouraging them to respond in English as much as possible.

I wonder how technology has affected student learning?

I learned- that although technology in education seems to be the primary way of learners now, it is not the end all be all answer. Finding a marriage between tech and in person learning is the key for students to be successful.

I wonder how technology has affected student engagement?

I learned- student engagement dropped tremendously, especially as the year went on still during distance learning. Students were rarely logging in and when they did, they rarely participated. Finding out that it was not possible to reach all students, I tried focusing on the students that were present which provided more students to want to participate.

I learned- that using education software provided students with accountability. Throughout distance learning I continued to use these because it forced the students to participate in order to move on.

I wonder if having students handwrite instead of type is more meaningful?

I learned- that students no longer favor typing over handwritten. Now that we are in person, we have moved to in person, handwritten tests and many students have told me that they much rather prefer to write instead of type, they like having "the break from the computer."
