A lot of farmers decided to migrate to the west because all they’re homes were destroyed from the Dust Bowl. Also they needed jobs so they could buy things. A migrant worker is someone who moves from job to job. Migrant workers lived in terrible conditions. They lived in a tent or shack. The places where the migrant workers lived were filthy and it was even worse when the temperature was warm because there would be flies and bugs all over the place. Farmers tried to help workers and so have the government agencies. They set up camps that were ran by people living there. There were showers, toilets and washing machines. The migrant workers faced competition because they weren’t that many jobs for everyone and when there were jobs available everyone competed to get it.

Life before The Great Depression was a time when people had a lot of money and weren’t afraid to spend it on new items such as automobiles, refrigerators, and radios. People had just got credit cards and were spending more than they made. When the Great Depression started people started to panic and tried to pull all their money out of the banks. This then caused the majority of banks out in the U.S to close because they were going into bankruptcy. Now that people had no money harvesting and manufacturing of new crop and products slowed drastically. This caused people to loose their jobs. Then Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected as president and made a law called the New Deal. The New Deal gave people hope by introducing social security, unemployment insurance and disability insurance. After the New Deal the Great Depression lasted for several years. then WW2 started pulling America out of the depression from the demand of products from the U.S. from countries preparing for war. Clearly, the great depression was one of the most difficult times for the U.S.
