“Crossing a bare common,in snow puddles, at twilight, under a clouded sky, without having in my thoughts any occurrence of special good fortune, I have enjoyed a perfect exhilaration.’’ (366)
This quote shows many forms of transcendentalism, not having any thoughts of special good fortune connects to how that person enjoys life without big, grand things. This shows how transcendentalist don't need riches or money, they just need nature to keep them happy with their life. They got all the excitement and enjoyment they need by just taking in nature, connecting to spiritual well being over financial well being. This Quote also shows that Ralph Waldo Emerson (the author) has a close connection with nature. Nature is what heals and purifies him. A deep connection with nature was also felt when Emerson explains the imagery of what he is seeing at that moment.

This picture exemplifies the pure beauty and power of nature. It shows a side of self reliance, being the only thunderbolt in the picture. This picture shows a range of deep and full shades of purple. The golden tint shows through the dark clouds from distant thunder heads trying to show themselves. The one thunderbolt, Bright and aggressive, captures your eyes and makes you take in the beauty and strength in the dark full sky. I took this picture at about ten at night in the middle of October of last year. This picture connects with me in so many ways. Im a pretty independent person and the thunderbolt is me in my eyes. its shows strength and independence and I strive to be as strong as that thunderbolt.

Transcendentalism connects the reader and author with nature and the true art of self reliance. Many transendentalist believe your spiritual well being is far more important than your financial well being. Ralph Waldo Emerson depicts a great sense of this meaning to transcendentalism. IN the text of "Nature" Emerson states, "Crossing a bare common,in snow puddles, at twilight, under a clouded sky, without having in my thoughts any occurrence of special good fortune, I have enjoyed a perfect exhilaration." This quote builds the foundation for which Emerson believes in happiness and not riches. Emerson also explains, “In the wilderness, I find something more dear and connate than in streets and villages.” showing that you connect with nature instead of the modern technologies of the town. He only needs nature in its purest form to keep him happy and just with his life.

This songs has multiple lines of transcendentalism. The three I found...
1) "Under the bridge downtown
I could not get enough" -Under the bridge was where no one else was and he loved being all by himself connecting to self reliance.
2) "Sometimes I feel like my only friend" - This quote also connects to self reliance. Its only him, no friends and thats exactly what he wants.
3) "At least I have her, the city, she loves me" - His version of nature and the thing that makes him happy is the city, he walks around the city and enjoys every bit connecting to spiritual well being over financial well being.
