My textbook arrived this week so I have read Ch 1,2,3,4,8 (can say that it gives 0 insight into drones...haha).
I have read the QLD documents and it looks at how it is in the curriculum and links. Something that I am finding quite confusing is the difference between the junctures. From what I can understand in prep-2 students "explore drones/robots" and in 2-4 they "identify and explore" so basics are taught in the early years. They’re only called bands when year levels are grouped together and they have 2 years to complete. I just confirmed this in the staff room :)

Just wondering after having a look at A1 how specific we need to be in referencing the drones- I feel like 1500 words is not many at all to address everything they want and having a slight freak out. I was thinking of including a brief opening statement about the "trillo drones" and then mentioning them throughout, however I dont know if I am correct.

Jas- I was also looking at that particular document and thought the same thing with the document provided but have also looked at the rest of the curriculum.

I am thinking after this weeks tutorial/lecture things may seem to be a bit more clear.

I also had the thought today that I would be happy to organise a skype/zoom meeting so that we could perhaps talk about our ideas/discuss them together? That way we may be able to clarify things and bounce ideas off one another? Just a thought! Let me know if anyone would be interested in this!

Oh our tute, Chris said that we have to choose when we use technology (the bee bot). When we do use it, it must be for design purposes only. So for example, If we were asking our students to design a bridge.. then the bee bot may be used to test that design. He said that it’s easy to get carried away with the technology side of it but we must bring ourselves back to the design aspect.

As he was speaking I realised how much creativity had been zapped from me as an adult. As a child I loved it. I had an amazing imagination and loved being creative. I also realised that while on prac I haven’t seen students being exposed to being creative. However, the one time I have, some students really struggled.

I’m looking forward to the design aspect of this assignment and seeing what I can come up with. Happy to report I have written my design brief for A2 and thankful to have my head into it now :) As I'm now on holidays, I'm looking forward to joining the live tutorial this morning. I found Chris' learning pathway very helpful this week...a definite must watch for A2. I'm working my assignment on year 3...admittedly I'm not sure on how many content descriptors until I delve further into the V-Diagram but I think 3 at this stage. I am just having a look at the task now and the task sheet and the overview (that I have ) seem to conflict. In some places I have read we are required to have a “part c” which is the video recording however in other places this is non-existent. I haven’t seen anything about video recording Bella. It is just 5 photos. It is my understanding, one for each of the lessons we write. But in saying that, I am now a little confused and hope to get clarity about it at the super tute. I thought I had an understanding of the task before Christmas and now I’m thrown by the task sheet wording. Because the way the task sheet reads, ‘demonstrate how the students will be assessed through the use of bee bot’ and that our photos need to ‘lead the students through the use of bee bot’ so I think we need to include the bee bot a lot more than what I thought. Chris said in last tute, that we need to decide where we are going to introduce it, is it just at the end to test? I think if you want to just use it during the test and assessment you can but by doing this you will show the markers how you feel about integrating technology within lessons. I agree with you. I feel like the top of the V diagram is all very similar. I interpreted reflection as the student reflection ie what worked, what they enjoyed etc. To enable teacher reflection for future teaching? Bella, with the highlighting of the achievement standard...is that for your annotated pictures? I was under the impression we just use that wording and put it in ourselves...not highlight and paste in?

2nd question - with the 10 lesson overview I was concerned about the word limit as the examples shown at the super tute had lesson objectives + lesson overview + curriculum link. Is this what everyone is putting in? Week 9 prompts us to reflect on our learning, the trials and troubles we have encountered throughout the semester and this assignment. Here is my reflection:

At the start of this semester, I was quite thrown by the tech curriculum, in particular separating the digital from the design. I found A2 a little tricky; for the design aspect, I had a clear vision in my mind but incorporating the bee bot proved difficult. Until the super tute, when I was able to develop a deeper understanding of the task. This subject has helped me to see how the tech curriculum can be incorporated into the classroom using inquiry pedagogy and the many engaging and exciting opportunities students can engage in.
I enjoy incorporating real-world tasks and have found providing real-world 'problems' to students can be quite easy, especially once we know our students and how they learn. It's ensuring I am implementing the curriculum efficiently and effectively that I recognise I need to develop further.
I struggled a little with the delivery of this subject and limited use of the forums. However, I can see that this approach has prompted students to take ownership of their learning...engaging with the course content, learning pathways, tutorials and the textbook is the only way to get through.

Thank you, Jas, Jo, Bella & Kylie for collaborating with me this semester! I've found the Padlet to be a really effective form of communication and can see I may even use this in the classroom. All the best with finishing assignments 2 & 3 :)

Thanks for your post and I would like to thank everyone as well!

Prior to beginning this course I was very apprehensive about technology and the thought of teaching technology I myself had no idea how to use. After the first few weeks of learning and engaging with course material and the text book I started to really engage with the curriculum and the fun and innovate ways which it can be embedded into primary classrooms at all ages with the idea of creating learners for now and the future.

I have really enjoyed being creative with assignment 2 and thinking outside of the box and putting myself in the students shoes to think about what they might enjoy to learn about and design. I think the biggest take away message for this course has been the importance of teaching technology as a stand alone subject area and not something to throw together through using programs like word.

I have enjoyed this course this semester, although I must admit I have found it to be odd. It was quite different from other courses and focusing on Drones and then the confusion with the B-Bot left me quite weary for a while. A learning curve if anything else. I did not like the fact their were no forums on the university site for us to collaborate within as I have seen so many students presenting the wrong information to others - such a mess. I feel a place where a lecturer could step in and direct students would be far more advantageous! Regardless, it is what it is! I did enjoy this Padlet though, I can also see myself using these in a class room.
I did enjoy learning separately about the design and digital technologies and seeing them in their own light. It was interesting.
I am at the stage now where I am about to submit my assignment as well as one from the other course I am completing. Wow what a semester! I felt like we had to hit the ground running with going straight into A1.

I was thinking about how so far the only technology I’ve seen at schools during prac have just been playing literacy or numeracy games on the computer. I look forward to seeing what’s out there next time.

I found this course quite different and the flexibility to create and structure our assignments to how we want was definitely new and a bit harder to get use to. The use of bee-bot definitely threw me and I still hope I’ve used it correctly. I don’t feel as though it kept me from steering away away from design, however hindered it. Nonetheless, I look forward to seeing how I can practically apply this in the classroom!
