Autism (Auto) means self, which means a child becomes alone. With this disorder, there are four subcategories; social communication and interaction: prefers to be alone, joint attention, Restricted or Repetitive behavior: fixed on certain routines, lining up toys. As of 2010, there was about 1 in 150 children that had ASD, now in recent studies, it is shown that there is about 1 in 68 children that show symptoms of ASD. ASD was narrowly defined, and now it is studied that it can be mild to severe. The most accurate definition of ASD, is a developmental disability, "significantly affecting verbal and nonverbal communication and social interaction... that adversely affects a child educational performance." The stereotyped characteristics are, repetitive activities, resistance to daily routine, and unusual responses. The more severe the ASD is, the more the child's cognitive skills are taking away. Children with ASD usually feel alone, and have social deficits, and struggle with being able to communicate with other people. One strategy is to have calming music, for example and ocean's sound. Another strategy is to use low lighting. To practice a good relationship with the child, one must find things the child like and immediately offer it to him/her, or start using it as if they are the same. Slowly, you must start speaking at a low voice. Then start playing some music, and set a rhythm that the child can follow and focus on. Difficulty in the spectrum of autism can vary, and in mild autism, it can be very small. For example, if a child has a little bit social deficit, or still reacts in a different way, but most often reacts the same way as other children, they can have mild autism. It is a stereotype that children with autism usually struggle with the way they talk, react to certain situations like banging their heads against the wall. However, children with mild autism often have act as normal children would. The only difference would be slight differences in the way they act. I also learned that Autism Spectrum Disorder is not one type of disorder, rather it includes many different types. A child can vary from mild autism to severe autism. The most common ones are Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, Pervasive Developmental Disorders, Autism, Asperger Syndrome, Childhood Disintegrative Disorder, Not Otherwise Specified. These change the way a child acts in different situations.
     I also came to a conclusion that children are special in their own ways. Many children in a class bully a kid with autism, they make fun of them or simply are not educated on why they act the way they do. I feel that children with autism are special and especially unique. They can solve problems or be more intelligent in certain topics than "normal" kids. In relation to "normal" children, no kid is normal, there is no set standard for kids that are normal. Every kid has their own way of reacting to things or way of thinking. That is why we should accept one another for the way they are, because we need to accept the way children are born. 
     Lastly, I would like to reflect on the way we should accept children or people with autism. People with autism are special and it is shown on graphs that they hold special traits that we do not hold. For example, they could be more advanced in their head with math, writing, art, or any subject like that, whereas we might find it difficult to do those subjects. Just like they find certain things easy, they most often find communicating with people extremely difficult. We must accept them, as they can help us in the future.
