. ]]> 2020-10-20 15:21:28 UTC https://padlet.com/sohakhalaily/oi42qnorw6z8r0gw/wish/845277905 https://padlet.com/sohakhalaily/oi42qnorw6z8r0gw/wish/845323055 This activity is to promote speaking skills in 7th Graders.  Begin by using the online-stopwatch site for two separate tools.  First, create a Random Name Picker Wheel with a list of simple nouns (colors, food items, clothing, school supplies, etc.).  Make a list of about 25 or so items.  Next, divide the class into smaller groups of three or four students and assign each students a number in the group (1, 2, 3).  Begin by calling all "number ones" to be the first speaker.  Spin the picker wheel to get an object.  The selected students will need to talk about the object in their small group for as long as possible.  Ready the stopwatch mechanism, give a countdown, and start the timer.  When a student runs out of things to say about the object, then another person in the group records the time they finished according to the stopwatch.  When only one student is left talking, then that group gets a point and the next round commences with a different speaker.

I have week 7th grade kids and our book is all about the weather. I want to use a poll so they can answer simple questions. Such as: Do you like winter yes/no.
Also, I want to use a mentimeter  (Menti) and ask what is you favorite season. Also, I want to add another Menti that says what do you like to do in that season? This encourages students to share, talk, and express themselves. We can then lead with a discussion.
