Racial bias is the number 1 leading cause of disparities in minority communities. The importance of this topic is often overlooked. That is why I chose this topic as my point of reference of a issue within our healthcare system. Its imperative to know that when bias is shown from a physician to patient of a minority group it causes the patient more harm than good . The health outcomes of patients are the hands of healthcare professionals . This could mean life or death of that patient.

This will create a sense of socialization in the workforce.

Increased opportunities for Positive Interaction
- By promoting positive interactions with minorities in the healthcare workforce will reduce negative stereotypes. The key way to develop these interactions is to hold discussions with all faculty , as it relates to bias, diversity, and social issues.

Empathy Skills Development
- Psychological research suggests that empathy shown to minorities can change the mindset from a trait to a skill set. By adopting this skill set it will create developmental skills and better patient care.
