Implications for nursing

Implications for nursing practice, research, AND patient care are many. The most important aspect of patients becoming more engaged is patient involvement in their own care. Patients, with access to their health records and actively participating in their own health journey will assist the nurse with patient education regarding new disease processes and changes to medication regiments and promoting overall positive health practices. By improving communication efforts, it offers increased accessibility as well as improve patient outcomes. Providers should also start fostering real relationships with patients and encouraging open collaboration between practitioner and patient.
