Our society seems to have struggles with change, as is very prominent in this article. Our workforce has been centered around men for so long, now that women have entered some of the same positions only men could hold, they don't know what to do about it. For some reason, women don't seem to ever be the ones who can make these accommodations, as it's often men controlling the system behind what resources people get in the workplace. I find it fascinating that women haven't really gotten a chance to help other women because they simply cannot get the position to do so.

I've heard about the lack of female proportioned dummies in car crash testing before and also a bit about women in construction, but never seen anything about the police force or something as simple as an office job temperature. It's sad that things with such easy fixes are being completely ignored, especially with actual people's lives and comfort on the line.

I think that the fact that they only tested the female crash dummy (when they tested it at all) in the passenger seat of a car underlines to the idea of gender roles in our society. When people are designing for women at all (which often doesn't happen, as the article points out), it's for a particular version of a woman, both in body (the average size of the dummy) and action (such as riding in the passenger seat).

I really enjoyed dreading this article because I felt it made us more that when we are driving in a everyday vehicle little do we know the testing of the so called safe vehicle we are controlling is not fit to the female body but only to men. Causing high risk to how mainly Women are affected by this situation because when in case of a crisis we aren't as nearly protected as men are.

I found the article very interesting. I had no idea that problems like these actually existed for women. And the fact that these issues aren't taken seriously is bizarre. It makes me wonder what can we/I do to solve some of these issues. It also makes me wonder about all the people who could've been saved from injury and/or death if people advocated for certain safety changes to be made.

I enjoyed the hook of this article and found it rather intriguing. It makes sense now, but it occurred to me that several successes or developments in humanity are often referred to as "man's first __" or "development of man's __", very rarely as "human" instead of "man." As stated in this article, something could have been made by a woman, but society's first instinct, especially if it's an ancient object, is to refer to it as "mans discovery".

I think it's great that someone thought about these things and decided to deeply investigate it and write an article about it. Its essential to progress in inclusivity and feminism. I enjoyed getting to learn about this, but its makes me sad to know women aren't as prioritized as they should be. I'm hoping more people read this, so there can be changes made!!

I thought this article was both an interesting and informative read. I thought it was well written, eloquent, and thoughtful. I'm aware of what test dummies/car crash dolls are but I never realized that there was typically only one version! It's scary to think that a test for something as dangerous as a car is only designed around men or the "average" person. I was shocked to find out that crucial safety equipment like vests or proper PPE came with health effects or weren't varied enough to fit the women who use them. It's shocking to me that our world continues to revolve solely around men and things that could have easy fixes or testing aren't being done/worked on!

The increased awareness of living in a society designed for men makes me think about the recent changing of women's roles in our modern world. Feminism has been growing exponentially over the past few decades, with studies such as those presented in the article becoming increasingly widespread. I find it interesting to reflect on our society's history and realize that an aspect of modernization IS feminism. I wonder how the concept of inevitable increases in inclusivity and awareness will lead to in the future. Will we one day have the choice to buy a car designed specifically for women?

It honestly makes me so sad to see how men are so uneducated about women and our needs. It also makes me sad to see how women are not as much of a priority as men are. There could've been so much that our society could've done to prevent these injuries from occurring if only there was more thought and consideration put into women's needs. This article was a good read because not only was this article interesting but it was also super informative to the people that don't understand how much women suffer. The fact women were unable to have the chance to help other women just because they couldn't get the position is insane. Also the fact that major safety equipment was made only based around men's use and fitting because they are what they call the "average" person. Society needs to change drastically because if it was the other way around I'm sure society would've already made it to be where men are either as equal as women or at a higher seen ranking.

It is a striking inequity that what is considered "normal" is actually the systematic exclusion of women. Each design that is supposed to be universal, but leaves out women is another obstacle to their full participation in society. How can it be an equal opportunity world if women are denied equal products and service? Also, I feel that it is a very serious issue to jeaporadize the life and safety of women based on ineffective design. To dismiss or ignore the disatvantage would be simply unethical.
