(b) (i) Mitosis is a way of making more cells that are genetically the same as the parent cell. It plays an important part in the development of embryos, and it is important for the growth and development of our bodies as well. Mitosis produces new cells, and replaces cells that are old, lost or damaged.
    (ii) By using tissue culture to clone the plant. It is used to maintain or grow plant cells, tissues or organs under sterile conditions on a nutrient culture medium of known composition.
(c) There is a reduction of the chromosome number from diploid (two seperate copies of each chromosome) to haploid (one copy of each chromosome) during the formatipn of gametes.
(d) Carcinogenic substances that contains carcinogens will retard the formation of spindle fibres. This will cause the homologous chromosome not able to be pulled to the opposite poles.
