I have learned that Performance Based Assessment is any assessment that a student takes. I learned that there are multiple types of rubrics. I also learned that PBAs cannot fully assess a students learning. I would like to learn more about when to assess students and how you know which assessments works better for what type of learning.

Performance Based Assessment is designed to assess targets where as others cant fully assess what students fully learn
There are two different types of rubrics being analytic or holistic
Can be in any way like asking to participate, creating something, or even completing a task

what is more common between analytic and holistic rubrics?
Are these more or less stressful than other testing methods?

I learned first off that PBA's are any assessment that asks students to participate in or complete a task that can be assessed to determine knowledge. I also learned that PBA's use scoring rubrics and guides to assess students learning. These rubrics can be both analytic and holistic. Lastly I learned that PBA's is designed to assess targets when other testing methods cannot fully assess student learning.

2 Questions

One thing im having trouble understanding is when PBA's are necessary. It seems like PBA's can be used almost everytime we assess or in conjunction with every other assessment we utilize. So in struggling when to use a PBA and when not to.

Another question I have is if PBA's are more fun for students and also how do they affect students anxiety levels when compared to other assessments.

- Holistic - one overall judgement
Rubrics require careful attention to detail to be accurate and fair.

One thing I have learned about performance based assessment is it lets students show what they know by doing real tasks, like writing, creating, or solving problems. Also I have learned, it focuses on how well students can apply their learning, not just memorize facts. One question I have is how does performance-based assessment help students become better problem-solvers?
