Sleep is a difficult concept to measure. The wellness of one’s sleep could be defined by not just outside noises, but also their breathing capability, possible sleep insomnia, or age of the experimental unit. The only randomization performed was the selection of the experimental units in the family and which treatment they will be given. Another lurking variable could be that putting each and every family member into the pile of options could be difficult. Some distant family members may not be accounted for, or some that are selected might choose not to be a part of the experiment.

Ax different treatment is held out within each group, so that all three treatments are performed once. Once this experiment is complete, the treatments are then compared. This design helps us determine the blocking variables that have an impact on the result, and we feel more confident weren’t due to those blocking variables not being blocked.
