I chose this song because of its positive and sincere message. The concept that we are defined by how we treat others is the essence of humanity's kindness. This song reminds me of the importance of treating others with respect: the golden rule. From an English standpoint, I also love how the dichotomy of the word choice in the song exemplifies the contradictions in society. How can we as humans create both love and war? It shows the complexity of the world and people in general, which ties into the ideas Orwell presents in 1984, particularly with the Party's paradoxical slogans.

I think that being kind is important, a concept this song supports as well. "We are how we treat each other when the day is done," a line from the chorus, accentuates this message in an achievable manner. Nobody is perfect, and people can be mean or unkind. But what is important is "how we treat each other when the day is done." We can make mistakes and be unkind, but if we forgive each other and ourselves at the end of the day and return to kindness, that is what is important.

I think a lot of times I'm too critical when I listen to music. Like, the first thing I thought was "why is there a piano solo to start off a song that's primarily acoustic guitar, that doesn't sound right." But then I took a step back and realized how pretentious that is. Who am I to decide what should and shouldn't be in music? And suppose it were a Cosmo Pyke song, I'd likely have a positive disposition going into the listening experience rather than my cynical mindset with artists I don't know. This is exactly why small artists have trouble growing, because they have to beat the odds and the stigma. Or suppose it's human nature to be this way and there's nothing wrong with me... once again, who am I to say. All in all, it's a nice song whether or not it gets replay value.

Nice message, I'm kind of past that, just being real. I chose to focus on how things sound because everything has already been written about. BUT, it's still well written and a good message, nice pick!

This song is a good reminder of the importance of treating others well. I completely agree with the line "we are how we treat each other", as how you treat people is a direct reflection of your character and who you are as a person. The ideals taught to us as kids of "treat others how you want to be treated" is also embodied in the song.

The song points our the importance of kindness in our world and just how it impacts those around us, including how we are perceived by others. My favorite line was "heroes don't look like they used to, they are you". This is very true! There are stories on the news everyday about an ordinary person who goes out of their way to show just a little bit more kindness and lend a helping hand (no matter what that is). You made a very good point that it is hard to comprehend how we can have both love and war. I really enjoyed the songs beat and lyrics. It left me feeling optimistic and happy.

Wow! This song is so encouraging and I'm very moved by it. It is very nice to listen to and it is very pleasing to the ears. As to the question, we as humans can create love and war through thoughts and actions, as expressed in the novel 1984. It is up to each individual to choose what they want to create.

I think this song is very important/relevant, especially today. So many people hate each other over differing political views, which is ridiculous. Families can't even celebrate holidays together anymore (my grandma's brother, my great uncle, has not talked to his entire family for over a year because of our political views). People need to stop finding reasons to hate each other, and more reasons to love one another. I completely agree with the chorus of the song, which says that we are how we treat each other. Our identity is defined by how we treat other people, as it should be.
