Operation  Desert storm also known as the Persian Gulf War began August 2, 1990 to February 28, 1991. That was triggered by Iraqi's Invasion of Kuwait. 

Saddam Hussein the leader of Iraq ordered the invasion of Kuwait. He aimed to acquire the nation large oil reserves and cancel the large debt between the two countries.

The United States and its western European  troops to Saudi Arabia to deter a possible attack.

 U.S. Pres. George H.W. Bush declared a cease-fire for February 28, Iraqi resistance had completely collapsed.

When a recession struck is support crumbled.  He struggled against independent Ross Perot and Democrat Bill Clinton.  

Clinton was a skilled at the television- centered campaign.

Bill Clinton won the 1992 election by a wife electoral majority but only took only 43 percent of the popular vote. He became the 42nd President of the United States.

Bill Clinton and first lady Hilary Clinton devised a complex plan offering health insurance for all Americans. 

The plan was criticized and never got a vote in congress. This is the first of many problems and things that Bill Clinton had to fight in his presidency.

Enlarged police forces and the improved economy led to lower crime rates. 

The Senate confirms Janet Reno as US Attorney General, the first woman to serve in the position. Reno was Clinton's third choice for the position, after his first two selections were scuttled due to financial improprieties.

The House and Senate were in a gridlock  with President Clinton. They disagreed on many issues.

Clinton refused to accept a Republican bud-
get with deep cuts, the federal government was
forced to shut down three times.

Clinton won re-election a scandal broke out about Clinton and a White House intern led to impeachment and remained in office until 2000.
