First I picked out my 4 numbers and then

I made up my equation out of my 4 numbers. I did 10 x 4 which was 40 and then I had to put

the rest of the equation on the back of my equation because if not you could not do the rest of

the problem. 40 + 2 is 42 and then 42- 8 would be 34 so my final answer was 34.

I created six numerical expressions and I typed four of

them down below, including the one I chose.

(95 x 16) + 8 + 12 =

(16 x 8) + 64 + 95 =

(64 x 95) + 12 +16 =

My equation I chose was:
(16 x 95) x 64 + 8

My Numerical Solved

  (16 x 95) x 64 + 8

    1520 x 64 + 8

       97280 + 8

          97288

When you solve a numerical expression, you do PEMDAS. PEMDAS means parenthesis -

exponents - multiplication - division - addition - subtraction. If you do that in order, you will get the right answer. If you do it a different way you will get the wrong answer. If you have division and multiplication or addition and subtraction, you can do it left to right because they

are groups.

First we folded our paper to make 4 boxes on the left. Then we wrote the numbers in our

equation and drew them in bubble numbers. After we colored them with oil pastels. We contrasted the background and the numbers with cool and warm colors. This project was fun and exciting!

Some of the expressions that I did

were (3 + 18) + 12 x 7, 34 + 6 x 7, and 18 + 3 x 12 - 7. The final equation I chose was 18 + 3 x

12 - 7. I got my answer by answering like this: 18 + 3 x 12 - 7 You multiply three and twelve to get thirty-six. 18 + 36 -7 Then you add eighteen and thirty-six to get fifty-four. 54 - 7 You subtract seven from fifty-four to get forty-seven! 47

I used numbers that came to my mind 5 was the first the I thought 11 because it was my age the 6 because next to 5 and 28 was random.my expression ended up being (5+11)x6-28 the steps I used were from a method of math of math called PEMDAS: parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction. the way it works is you solve like PE MD AS you solve parentheses and exponents left to right before multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction then multiplication left to right before addition and subtraction then the last 2 so how you solve my problem is (5+11)x6-28 so you solve (5+11) before anything else and you get 16 then 16x6 because M comes before S and you get 92 the you have to solve 92-28 cus AS now but also because last problem and you get 64 witch is my final answer

We use oil pastels to color

them and for each number we colored it cool inside of the number, but for the background we

used warm colors. For our answer we colored the inside a warm color and the outside cool colors. We did this project because we are studying PEMDAS which stands for, parenthesis, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, and last but not least, subtraction. Our friends, family and peers are supposed to try and figure out the equation that we made to get our

answers. So the first step to solving my equation is: first you solve 96x25, then you solve the

answer of 96x25 then add 3, and finally you subtract that answer by 9, then you should get 2,391!

It should look like this...
{9-[3+(96x25)]}

     {9-[3+2,400] {9-2,403

2394

After we did that then we solved and picked our favorite one and turned it into this cool drawing/painting process. For my equation, the four numbers I used were 13, 10, 27, and 9. To help me solve this

equation I used PEMDAS. (Parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction). Which is where you solve left to right and helps you get the right answer. This is

my equation

(13 x 10) - 27 ÷ 9

         130 - 3

            127

That is my equation.

In my numerical expression I used four numbers 25, 5, 12 and 12. I did PEMDAS and made equations like 12 + 12 + 12 + 12 and 25 - 5 + 12 - 12 but the expression that I settled on was [(12x5)+12]-25. Then we wrote all the numbers out and made a sheet where people had to guess how I used PEMDAS.

This quarter, students read the story of Sadako while they folded paper cranes in honor of her legacy. Through examining Sadako’s point of view, students gained a better understanding of the devastating impact the atomic bombs had upon a child with a bright future.

Some sources say that Sadako folded 1,000 paper cranes before her tragic death from leukemia, and others say the 1,000 cranes she was buried with were finished by her classmates. Either way, our students decided that the folding of the cranes brought Sadako peace during her darkest times. Today a statue of Sadako and a golden crane stands at the Hiroshima Peace Park, symbolizing the children’s cry for peace. Surrounding the statue is art from around the world, symbolized in our students’ watercolor paintings of the Japanese words peace, hope, courage, and love.

This quarter in ELA, the students researched 5 of the most common natural disasters and how they impact the people and places that experience them. Through their research, we also created a plan on how best to survive those natural disasters. After presenting their research to their class, they wrote a script for a PSA and recorded it with their group. They also planned and put together a survival kit that could be used before, during, and after their disaster. On this Padlet, you will find a picture of their expert research, their survival kit, and a recording of their PSA. We hope you never have to use this knowledge, but if you do, we hope it helps keep you safe!
