The poem "Oh me! Oh life!" by Walt Whitman is reflected in the movie Dead Poets Society at the beginning of the movie when Mr. Keating recites the finial life of the poem, "That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse." The movie continues to reflect this idea as Mr.Keating's teachings inspire a few young boys form his class to create a dead poets society and reflect upon their purpose in life. Throughput the movie the boys are inspired to follow their dreams and own pats, and to live in the moment and "seize the day." The poem by Walt Whitman describes that although the world may seem terrible, life goes on and it is a blessing to add something to the world. The poem is meant to inspire people to contribute what they can to make the world better, much like how Mr.Keating inspired the boys in the movie.
