In my opinion, “Mastery” does a great job of helping me understand the things around me. I can fully respect this book because of how it does a good job at portraying reality. The information presented to me can be applied to real life to help me come out on top of situations, I can push myself to a level of mastery.

I connect to the book in multiple ways because in my life, I see a lot of the traps set to keep me in a position of dependence on things other than myself. This book helps me see how I can get around this. It teaches me about how to properly and efficiently give 110% in all circumstances and the positive effects of doing so.

What does this cover mean, Messiah?

This cover to me symbolizes how being a master in your craft requires 100% perfection. This cover is very symmetrical and it shows the alignment of mastery and how it’s dodging the adversary. (Which could be seen as the triangles)

1) Pg. 29 “The future belongs to those who learn more skills and combine them in creative ways.” All the most successful people in the world succeeded in applying their learned skills to the real world and combining them to fully capitalize on their lives.

2) Pg. 54 “No one is really going to help you or give you direction.” This abrupt sentence forces you to sort of recognize the harsh realities of the real world and force you to develop yourself accordingly.

3) Pg. 3 “Think of it this way: There are two kinds of failure. The first comes from never trying out your ideas because you are afraid, or because you are waiting for the perfect time. This kind of failure you can never learn from, and such timidity will destroy you. The second kind comes from a bold and venturesome spirit. If you fail in this way, the hit that you take to your reputation is greatly outweighed by what you learn. Repeated failure will toughen your spirit and show you with absolute clarity how things must be done.” From the very beginning, we are hit with the difference between two types of failures and it encourages the reader to try to welcome failure and pain. It helps you grow.

I’d recommend this book to someone who feels they want to evolve themselves and become more socially aware. To someone who is comfortable in the current living positions they’re in and don’t see a problem with themselves, I don’t think they would fully appreciate this book.
