They believed that Catholics were not following the Bible. Their main goal as a religious group was to simplify forms of worship in order to focus on the teachings of the Bible. </div>]]></description>

The Church of England also happens to be the largest Christian denomination in the country. The secluded population of Puritans represents the crucible. The tension within the Puritan community may represent the boiling of the metal in the crucible. The removal of suspected witches in the community may represent the purification of the metal. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Salem witchcraft hysteria </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Puritans had a strong belief that Satan is active and prevalent in the world. They called this the "invisible world." They believed that Satan recruits witches and warlocks. Their were suspected cases of witchcraft prior to the full blown hysteria that was Salem. Tension over land disputes led to witchcraft accusations. When those accused of witchcraft lost their land, the accusers would claim it. </div>]]></description>
