         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. Actively listen because as you know as a veteran teacher, not all teachers think alike.  <br>2.  Be understanding and use guided questions to help them with their emotions. Use examples to help them such as: I had a new teacher ask me why I didn't get mad when a student called me an offensive name.  I said it was because I knew she was trying to make me mad so I would send her to the office.  I knew she didn't mean it.<br>3. Always ask what went well and talk about the positive things that are going on in their classroom first.  Then talk about what can be improved on. <br>4.  Ask for help if you need it.  The principal can be a big help if you don't know what to do or say.  <br>5.  Be available at all times. They may need to ask you questions all through the day.<br>6.  Celebrate together their accomplishments.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Tips in creating a good Mentor:<br>1.) Never stop to think you've got everything figured out- there are always new ideas and ways to learn from your mentee.<br>2.) Look for the bright spots in any situation. How can we apply these positives to our situations in ways that are appropriate and lasting?<br>3.) Relationship building can be slow work- keep at it! Try to connect with your co-teachers in a variety of ways. Look for commonalities and truly delve into conversations about things you are passionate for.<br>4.) Faith is a spring of resiliency. Lean on those around you for help. Trust the process.<br>5.) Know when you need to recharge your batteries and the best ways to accomplish these goals. What do you need to do to know that you are ready to face another day, week, month  or school year.<br>6.) Reach out and question those around you when spending your energy. What's the value? Take the time to understand where you are placing your time and energy.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1)  Be available whenever your mentee needs you.  Always listen carefully and use mentor language (paraphrase, clarify, mediational, and non judgemental questions.<br>2) Have a schedule and a plan for meeting with your mentee.  Reflect on how lessons are going - what went well and what can be improved in the future.  <br>3)  Take care of yourself.  Make sure you get plenty of rest, exercise, eat healthy, surround yourself with positive people - co-workers, friends and family.<br>4) Look for and point out bright spots and celebrate successes with your mentee.  <br>5) Give occasional nudges.  <br>6) Be positive.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1.  Be present - really take the time to listen.  Don't let other people or things distract you.<br>2.  Work on forming a trusting relationship.  It is essential to have if the mentoring process is going to be effective.<br>3.  Reflection is vital for both parties involved in the mentoring process.<br>4.  All parties involved in mentoring should see benefits.<br>5.  What works for one mentee and/or mentor, may not work with another.<br>6.  Help mentees find their niche.<br>7.  Use your own examples and stories to support your advice.<br>8.  Let your mentee know that you care.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Have a handle on your emotions when entering any situation.<br>- Recognize that work is not the most important thing in your life. There needs to be a healthy balance between work and home. <br>- Some changes are not immediate, they take time. <br>- Even the mentor will need to learn throughout the mentoring process. We need to be open to those learning moments. <br>- Reflection for both the mentor and mentee are important for the process.<br>- Always be available to your mentee by giving them your full attention. They will be more likely to take what you say seriously if you have a trusting relationship.</div>]]></description>
