A great example of a social factor for Perth is Optus Stadium, Optus Stadium is a place where people go to watch cricket, AFL, NRL and many more sports. People go here to watch the sport that they love the most. The education is also very good in Perth as they have many schools with a high graduation education rate.

The weather in Perth makes it one of the most liveable places in the world. January is the hottest month, averaging 25ºC. July is the coldest month with an average temperature of 13ºC. June has the highest amount of rain averaging 140mm. The consistent good weather allows people to participate in a lot of outdoor activities. The lovely weather also keeps people active throughout the day and therefore healthier.

Perth is very close to Asia which makes it very attractive to these countries as a trading partner. Perth is the capital of WA and WA's economy is largely supported by the many mines which do a lot of trade with Asian countries. Looking at this graph it is clear that WA and Perth bring in a lot of revenue from the mining industry. As a result, this makes Perth very liveable due to the fact that there are many job opportunities for people. People can use Perth as a base to fly in/out to the mines for work.

The infrastructure of Perth is amazing because they take pride in their work. The transport in Perth is great as they have many ways to get around and it isn't too crowded. Perth also has endless kilometres of roads to get around. By downloading the trans Perth app, you will get the latest train, ferry and bus information within the Perth metro area. Most residents live relatively close to a train station which allows them to leave their car at home and take public transport.

70% of Lagos residents are living in poverty and therefore they have to live in slums. This means they don't have very good access to clean running water. Lagos has a very poor education system because they don't have money to pay for school and hire quality teachers. It also means that they have overcrowded spaces as families are cramped into one small space. The huts they live in aren't always built well and so aren't structurally sound.

Lagos isn't very clean as they have rubbish all over the streets. This graph shows the amount waste produced in Lagos each month compared to other cities. It is obviously a lot more. Lagos is also very polluted by vehicle emissions and biomass fuel burning. This air pollution causes sickness (In 2019, around 23,900 premature deaths were attributable to air pollution in Lagos). This is the reason it is one of the most un-liveable places in the world.

Lagos, Nigeria isn't very financially stable. The main source of money is oil sectors. Petroleum plays a large role in the Nigerian economy, accounting for 40% of GDP and 80% of Government earnings. Mining is also a large part of the economy. Unfortunately the economy hasn't been managed very well and has contributed to the large difference in wealth amongst its people.

Lagos, Nigeria's infrastructure isn't the best as they don't have things like traffic lights and pedestrian crossings. Apart from inadequate public transport, other problems of the road system in metropolitan Lagos include poor maintenance, and traffic congestion. Many roads within the main city need repairing. The buildings that they make are also not very safe. If a natural disaster happens even if it's small, many buildings could possibly collapse

Perth and Lagos

Perth and Lagos have many differences and similarities, Perth has good education factors and Lagos doesn’t. Perth also has great weather, non-polluted air and great infrastructural factors but on the other hand Lagos doesn’t have the best weather and their traffic isn’t very well maintained. Lagos is very cultural however it also has a lot of poverty. They both have many cultural areas and tourist attractions however Perth would be a lot safer to visit. Perth is included in the top 10 most liveable cities because people love to go there as they have many social, economical, cultural, infrastructural and environmental factors. Lagos are in the top 10 least liveable cities because they don’t maintain their areas, have a big difference in the wealth and they aren’t taking the best care of their environment.
