One of the objectives of this workshop is "Plan and implement diagnostic and formative assessment to improve learning and attainment of learning objectives". In this padlet, write down ONE thing you can do in your class in the next two weeks to do this. Then do it! After that, come back to this padlet and add a comment to your first post with your reflection.

In the case of Principles of Animation (PAN), a foundational Year 1 module, the Wk 1 Continual Assessment (CA) activity was for students to create a flip book animation. The assessment criteria has been constraint to only looking at the students application of the 12 principles of animation (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDqjIdI4bF4) with no weightage on drawing skills after I've raised the issue to the Module Leader (ML) that it would be unfair to students who have no art background who have only just started drawing training with Drawing Fundamental module. I've given the option for students with no art background to execute flip book animation with stickman.

Diagnostic Assessment:
From the student submission, I can get a sense of who are the stronger and weaker students in terms of drawing, and put more care to help the weaker students to catch up drawing skills to animate better.

Formative Assessment:
I was hoping to be able to give timely feedbacks to the students to provide stronger formative assessment support for the students. But the excel mark sheet is still being revised after I have raised concern about the assessment criteria biased against students with no art background on the 1st week of class to the ML. This is a point of frustration, but I have to be patient as I cannot overstep the authority of the ML.

************

In the case of Acting for Animation (AFA), which I've been assigned as ML. It is a Year 2 specialization module of 14 students.

Diagnostic Assessment:
I went into NPal2 Academic site to pull out grades of relevant modules these students have taken in Year 1 to give me an idea of the individual student's pre-AFA capability level.

Formative Assessment:
I've performed weekly 3-2-1 Reflection with the class to gather student feedback to understand how much they have retain and how I can tune my T&L to cater to their learning habits. The 3 questions I asked in my 3-2-1 Reflection are as follow:

A) 3 Things you learnt in class today.

B) 2 Things you like about class today.

C) 1 Thing you feel the class can improve upon.

I had decided to use e-quiz with my pharmacology classes as formative assessment. Most of students have not been doing well over the 3 years span. 2 out of 3 classes were weak and doing a formative assessment was crucial.
I identified the topics taught for the past 4 weeks and came out with e-questions for them to try.
A lot of unhappiness was voiced out because its additional "work" for them on top of all their assisg
