Boston Tea Party- The Boston Tea Party happened on December 16, 1773 in the Boston Harbor, Boston, MA.
-This happened after the Tea Act was passed.
- The colonists boarded the three ships and threw 342 chests of tea into the harbor. Some colonists disguised as Mohawk Indians but the British knew who actually did it.
- A fun fact is the 342 chests had a total of together 90,000 pounds of tea.Today that would be worth a million dollars.
- The tea originally was from China
-An interesting detail is South Carolina has some relations to the Boston Tea party. Actually this came before the Boston Tea party. There was a Charleston Tea party in SC on December 3, 1773. The ship arrived into Charles Town and had 257 chest of tea. The tea was taken and put in the Great Hall of Exchange. The citizens let the tea stay in Charles Town only if it was put away and not seen. They did not pay any taxes on the tea.
