I this course can be valuable to me in organizing my remote learning hybrid course at the college which we now offer for students.  Teaching remotely (hybrid) will continue for me and this course will help to show how I can fully engage the students in both formats – online and face-to-face.   This will help me arrange the information for students better understanding of the subject and their projects. 

 

My goal is to learn new approaches that will engage all my students through remote or face-to-face, giving them the skills and structure that will make them responsible learners that can make connections from their assignments in class to the real-world projects they will encounter. 

 

So much has transpired since that fateful day in March. I am just starting to relax my body and my mind. We did what we had to do but it was difficult. There was no time for thinking. It was simply a time to act. 

I am resilient and was able to dig deep and persevere. If I had been teaching full-time, I’m not sure how I would have fared.

I will use this course to set new goals and intentions in my life as I transition into a new career. Although I will always have a foot in education through substitute teaching, I need something more challenging.

I will use the insights I gain as I reflect on this past year to motivate and reassure myself that I can adapt to anything, learn new skills and ways of communicating, and move forward courageously in the face of fear to take on new endeavors. 

I am thankful that I was able to work in a school community that was so concerned with the health and well-being of all of its members. If I had to endure the stress of a pandemic, I could not have had a better workplace in which to do it. I will remember that good people make all the difference.

Having been out of the classroom for the past 7 years, I feel first and foremost disconnected from the technology available for teaching remotely (as well as teaching in general). Learning new technologies, skills, and strategies for engaging students is one of my major goals. Beyond student engagement, I hope there is more here for teams to learn in terms of collaboration and reflection.

I  think it is going to be very valuable to me because I am especially interested in creating a commitment statement and then applying this an example of online instruction.  

This also will be valuable to me to learn from the teachers.  As a VLACS teacher, I get to be with students from every school in NH and now I can learn from many of the teachers of these students. 

What are your intentions/goals for your learning in this course?   

My goal is to improve my online teaching/  It is amazing to read from the teachers and their collective sharing and wisdom will make a difference. I have never used Padlet and it is very interesting to have this all laid out like this.  I have so much to learn.
