S. Gipson I liked that "school is not a sprint; it's a marathon> There is a lot of deferred gratification before actually graduating." Saying that grit "is the tenacity and strength to pursue your long term goals in the face of obstacles over time, for something worthwhile."It probably is a huge indicator for academic success.

S. Gipson I like talking to the students about being a superball or an egg analogy to teach students about grit.I also like telling them about being an excellent musician or athlete over a period of time with purposeful training and practice.

K. Haulter: The very best teachable moments for grit involve wait time. My favorite teachable grit moments are when a student gets an answer wrong in front of peers. Working through that wrong answer to a correct one while others are paying attention, all the while staying laser-focused on the learning of that student, is when grit grows.

K. Haulter: Achievement mindset is something I feel our school and district do very well, especially with struggling students or students who are behind. This is the strongest way that the depth of data discussions over the past couple of years is made practical.

S. Rolfs: Grit is an undetermined, quantitative collection of gumption, determination and persistence. Sounds like some of the PRIDE attributes we teach. So having Grit could be modelling PRIDE to our students.

S.Rolfs: Mindset certainly is a huge part of how we approach teaching. I'm not sure it can be as easily define as how the author states it, but it does have a huge factor in the big picture of things.
