Other activities that would help students acquire the 5 SEL Competencies would be a morning check-in at the start of the day. Have a feelings board in the classroom to help students identify what emotions they are feeling that day.

I think self-reflection is a great way to improve SEL. Any activities that involve reflection are usually very helpful. For example an "I am" bulletin board allows students to reflect on their capabilities while simultaneously improving their self-awareness.

I like the idea of "quote of the day". It is something that can be used to start the day. It can be utilized with peer or small group discussion, journals, or drawings. Even acting it out to get students to interact in different ways. Also, giving the students a choice is a good way to keep them interested and make them feel that their decisions matter.
