The environment was great however every kid in the class was crying and I was extremely scared of the teachers. Even though I was only 3 years old I remember very this situation clearly as it was a big transition out of my comfort zone. Every morning I would scream and cry to my mom so I wouldn't be able go to school. My mom and I were enemy in the mornings. When I was in kindergarten I would cry every time when we were taking naps in class because of how uncomfortable I felt without my mom. I had no idea how to make new friends so I felt very alone. However after a few months I was able to get along with my classmates and go to school without crying. We lived in a condo at that time, therefore she dropped me off downstairs with the puppy and I started to play with the other children. I totally forgot about the puppy and let my friends take care of LuLu. When I got back I noticed that a little boy was crying because my dog had made a minor scratch on the little boy. Because I was only 6 at the time I had no idea what to do, the little boy's parent started to yell at me and told me to call my mom. Later that night the parents of the boy had sued us because of harassment and abuse from my dog towards their son. My dog was taken away until the case was solved. The little boys parent had no mercy towards our family and was determined to get rid of our dog. After a few months of arguments and chaos was taken away. I cried for weeks and months regretting that I should have not left LuLu and played with the other kids. We stayed at our family friend's house and they were super nice and helped me dramatically. However being 7 years old I didn't quiet understand where I was and what I was doing. I did not feel I sense of belonging as everyone else spoke a different language than me, and because we were in Hamilton not a lot of people spoke Chinese. On my first day of school I was really happy to go as I thought it was just like kindergarten and I would make just as many friends. However when I walked into class everyone already had a group of friends expect for me. I tired to interact with them but it just wasn't the same. I felt like I didn't even have a mouth to speak from because I could only communicate through hand gestures. The next day I hid under the table and cried because I didn't want to go to school. I came into class crying and one girl came up to me and gave me a tissue paper. Her name was Terean and she became my first best friend. She was always by my side and always helped me. However when I came to Windfields we were getting loads and loads of homework and tests which really overwhelmed me. This was the first time I taken my education seriously. My level of focused increased dramatically and I started to look at my marks instead of being careless about doing my homework. I also met many new faces at Windfeilds and it taught me who I should surround with. Windfields really developed my independence and I relied less and less on my parents as in elementary school my parents revolved around me and my education. I started to notice that social hierarchy is viewed at a extreme level in China. People that tend to have less money is bossed around or even hit by people who are at higher classes. This opened me up to the real world and all the social issues happening around the world. This made me look at the world differently and made me aware that every my actions matter. I started to be aware of the global issues that happens everyday instead of just looking at whats trending on youtube. This was a eye opener for me because I often thought that not getting that new dress was the worst thing that happened. However through this trip I noticed that even the less fortunate didn't stop trying and give up they kept on going. In China I saw a lady at the a food both being yelled at by a costumer and was even hit by him. Inside of yelling back she just ignored and kept on working hard at her job.
