We were given the task to select a traditional song and a genre to fuse the song with. We came across a lot of ideas, first we wanted to do Hawaiian music but their traditional music was mainly about the vocals and there was no background music to work with. We then chose Khmer music and realized they used the same instrument as the Thai, then switch it to Thai but then to research the song it didn't have any purpose to it so we thought doing Vietnam would be easier since we've both heard them since we were little and we looked at Tuong and Cai Luong music.

We've finally selected our fuse of music and what we're doing. We've chose to fuse traditional Japanese music into downtempo music. We decided to use the string instrument in the song at the beginning of the song (the song at the start, when you listen to it straight away you wouldn't think right away that it is Japanese music, what makes it appear to be Japanese is the instrument and the Japanese language makes it Japanese) and use the melody of he singing to base our song on, this works perfectly with the downtempo music because the way it was sung was really slow. For our fuse instead of having the purpose of only "death" I wanted to add the purpose of "remembering the ones they love" so if has more of an uplifting force to the song.

On this day we finally went onto garage band to work on our piece. We wanted to focus on the melody of the song, so we first looked at how to upload our song onto garage band. We tried different website on where to download it, I recommended a website but was worried since it was the school's computer that there would be viruses but by the end other websites didn't work so we quickly did on the site I recommended and it worked. We also tried to workout on how to paste in a garage band and it took a while and I've started to realized that we've been pasting it on the wrong instrument and had to create a new file of recording to put in it. After pasting it in we began working on our song, We mainly looked for Orchestra music so it can have that smooth ad soft sound which is represented as downtempo music. For the melody we listened to the song a few times but first to play the melody we searched it up on the internet but with the notes notation the had when we played it, it sounded nothing like the song so I decided to just listen to the song and work out the melody by myself and we were able to

After presenting our work to the class on how far we are, our piece was suppose to be downtempo but ends up being more EDM since we end up using so much beats instead of sticking to our orchestra instruments idea and we lost the idea of having the traditional song in our piece since it was only used at the start of the song. Jenny and I had problems with meeting the beat of the song so we refilmed our rhythm but it was harder to redo it because we've miss the first few bars of the song and it wasn't completed, we intended to put the first verse of the song in and develop with it on loop then have a slow impulsive instrumental part that would sound more modern, this will make the song fall more into the downtempo vibes.

Today we found out this new sound part on the side, this has the rhythm already so I wouldn't have to film my own and it would take up a lot of time. We added a few of them into our garageband piece but drag them to the side so we can use them further on in the piece. By then end of class when then realized we're doing downtempo but most of piece began to sound like EDM, it was a mess!!! Also getting checked by Mr. Graham, our bars don't follow on the count of four and at the end it only reached up to bar 18 instead of 20.

my song was short compared to others because it's only a third of what had to be required and it took longer to finish the song because Jenny and I had our piece ready but it was always out of the 4 bars and that made it sound very odd, the more we fix it and change it, it sounded worse and made it more messy. I thought I could've made it more in time on the second half of the song
