Tour Themes and Examples of Focus Areas

Each team will choose an overall theme around which to organize their virtual video tour. Then within your teams, each individual student will select a specific topic to create a 3-minute video tour about. Some specific examples are given below for each theme, but you do not need to limit yourselves to these specific examples. For example, if your team chose "Cultural" as its overall theme, and you want to do your tour about something that fits the cultural theme but is not listed as an example, feel free to talk to your instructor about that. We are open to your ideas.

Hello! First of all it is nice to meet everyone and especially our counterparts from Chile.

I was born and raised in Sacramento, California and I am still living here to this day.

One of the few things about me is that I absolutely love to ride motorcycles and one day hope to ride from Alaska all the way down to the most southern point of South America. I also love to travel and explore the outdoors which will consist of hiking, biking, hunting, camping, and fishing. I hope that one day I am able to travel to other parts of the world as I only know of the United States currently. Australia and Finland are just some of the places I really want to visit because of their geographies and availabilities to do outdoors activities.

The only thing I can say I do not really like is pineapple on pizza. haha!

I was born in Fiji, moved to Hawaii and later onwards came to Sacramento.

Something I like to do in my free time is, Playing Volleyball, listen to music as well as watching movies. My favorite Genre of movies are horror and Action.
A hobby I am getting into is reading books and photography.
A fun fact about me is I have a twin.
I really enjoy hiking and sightseeing because its a breath of fresh air for me, and I absolutely love sunsets.
I love star gazing and swimming. Some places I hope to visit is South Korea, Iceland and Switzerland.

Something I do not like is Vegemite (Almost like a salty brown paste/Australian butter).

Hello classmates near and far!

I was born in Sacramento and have lived here nearly all my life minus about 8 years as a child in Florida and North Carolina.

I enjoy staying active, especially outdoor things. Hiking in the fall/spring and lake activities in the summer. Each year I take my children to Lake Tahoe for a few days and one day is always devoted to spending the day at the lake. I have a passion for learning and exploring. Traveling is something I do as much as I can. I take several smaller trips throughout the year and I always aim for one, larger international trip a year as well. So far, my favorite trip has been to Budapest and my least favorite (although still amazing) was Amsterdam. A travel goal of mine is to hike in the Swiss Alps.

My name is Yifan Liu. I came from China, I was born and raised in Zhuhai city in the south part of China. I have been living in Sacramento for almost 5 years now.
I like to play sports, music and art. I was in a Chinese top art school for 5 year in painting. I also like football in US, I know how to play football and sometimes I played with my friends in the US. But football is not popular in China, not many people know this sport. I also like to watch NBA basketball, my favorite team is always Los Angles Lakers, Yao Ming is an awesome Chinese basketball player, but he retired already. I like to play basketball, and I was on my high school academic basketball team in China, The Sacramento King basketball team is very cool in Sacramento city. For the most sports I know how to play, like soccer , Messi is the legend of the soccer, I know how to play soccer, but not very good at it, I like swimming, hiking, playing tennis, volleyball, baseball, golf-ball, badminton, ice-skating, riding bike, mountain climbing, rock climbing, fishing, and 200 meter--running. Arm wrestling, Roller skating. Ball hockey. Water Polo.
I also have an academic degree in Chinese calligraphy, I love Chinese philosophy and Greek ancient architecture. The famous places I want to go to are Greece, Rome and Vienna.
I like to read Western philosophy books, Zarathustra from Friedrich Nietzsche. Hegel and Martin Heidegger.

My reflection on this project is that it was very fun to learn about other cities that I didn't know. Although communication was not the best with my colleagues, we were able to agree at times and I managed to learn about their cities and a little of their history, Despite everything it was an interesting experience.

I was not able to communicate with the group, there was no participation so we didn't choose a video together but I choose Camilo's video. My reflection of COIL, despite the lack of conversation with guys from Sacramento, it was interesting to watch the videos of the rest of the classmates and learn about the sectors where they live.

well, unfortunately I could not communicate with my group but as an individual I feel that although there was a lack of more participation on the other hand, it is a good experience to tell, since sharing cultures is a necessary and interesting topic, thanks to the people of sacrament to show part of its culture.

i really liked the idea of this program and i liked being able to learn more about other cultures, also learn about an another city that did not know anything and communicate with other people who do not speak my language. but i think they should make the program a little more entertaining so there is more participation Because we didn’t communicate as much as we should have.

My final reflection on this project si that very interactivo anda allows us to learn about importante aspecto of an unknown city such as it's cultura, hobbies, music, etc.

I really liked the idea of the program, the activities we did, I enjoyed getting to know another culture through videos and also communication in a language that is not my native language. There are things to improve but it is still a good way to learn.

Hi Class, I had a great time doing and watching the tours. I learned about some of the places, food, music and things to do in Chile. This was a cool assignment and super informative in all of our own ways. I liked this! I would be interested in visiting Chile, to explore and learn more about it.
